Analysis Of The Story 'Gym Candy' By Mick Johnson
Gym candy is a story about Mick Johnson. He is a son of a former football player. He tries to be better than his dad so he use steroids to enhance his performance. He uses the steroids to build muscle but gets addicted to it. When his friend founds out about it, he tries to kill himself. The traits Mick show is active, angry, and depressed. Mick is active because he is a football player and a student athlete. “I tucked the ball tightly against my side and took off straight for the goal line.”(p111)shows him running for the goal line in the middle of a game. “I ran and ran…”(p299) He is in the open field and he is trying to run into end zone.     Drew also eventually made it to be the starting quarterback after Drager and the starting quarterback were arrested. After Coach Downs announces his departure from the school, he tells Mick that he could become a great running back if he starts to gain muscle and weight, he starts to realize that he needs to gain muscle by weightlifting.
