INTRODUCTION
India being a developing global economy, financial sector plays a vital role in the development of the country. By empowering women in the financial sector we empower the community and the economy as a whole. Women in emerging markets are extremely important as companies need gender balanced senior management teams to participate in the global market strategically and wisely. There are significant development gains to be made in ensuring women’s equitable access to and control over economic and financial resources, including in relation to economic growth, the well-being of families and communities. If women are held back and not given the due position and importance in financial sector leading to inequality in access to resources it will represent a global challenge with implications at individual, family, community and national level. Women’s equal access to and control over economic and financial resources is critical for the achievement of gender equality and empowerment of women and for equitable and sustainable economic growth and development.
Be it in any field women are making their mark equally. Even though the status of women in Indian society has a newer dimension, there are certain disparities that still prevail in the Indian economy and in particular the financial sector.
