Analysis Of Winston Churchill's Speech We Shall Fight On The Beaches
When delivering his now-famous speech "We Shall Fight on the Beaches," Winston Churchill had a delicate line to toe. As a leading figure for Britain and the Allies in World War II, he had to let the populace have their small victory, or the "miraculous deliverance" that was Dunkirk while driving home the harsh reality that, although a miracle did occur, that miracle arguable paled next to the overall "colossal military disaster" that was also Dunkirk. Given this historical context, the techniques of persuasion used by Churchill are highlighted. Out of the many techniques used, the ones that stood out to me were the call to action and an appeal to a higher cause. Churchill effectively calls those in the House of Commons to action by appealing
