1.1 Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) background

The Electricity Act passed by the Parliament of Zimbabwe in January 2003 and gazetted on the 23rd May 2003 has led to the unbundling of ZESA to form ZESA Holdings Ltd., Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission Distribution Company (ZETDC), ZESA Enterprises and Powertel Communications as well as the establishment of Zimbabwe Electricity Regulatory Commission (ZERC). ZPC, ZETDC are regulated by ZERC.

The current structure of the Zimbabwe Power Sector is illustrated in figure 1. below :

REGULATIONS OF THE POWER SECTOR

The successor companies created, namely; Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), are responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity .

The Act also allows for the setting up of companies to take over the non-regulated business of ZESA. These are ZESA Enterprises (comprising of Transport, Projects, Technology Centre and Production Services) and Powertel Communications.

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) was created by the Rural Electrification Fund Act (Chapter 13:20) No. 3/2002 that became effective in May 2005. REA administers a special fund under this Act, which finances rural electrification projects. ZESA had, before the Act was promulgated, been administering REA. The REA Board now administers the Agency and is accountable to the Minister of Energy and Power Development

The author of this assignment is a Senior Engineer at ZETDC Harare Region’s North District and the company is authorised to construct, operate and maintain the transmission and distribution system in various areas of Zimbabwe, and to offer the following distribution services:
· To be the primary distributor of power in Zimbabwe
· To be the purchaser of power from the bulk

I start my journey of my trip through the kingdoms and city-states of Africa today. I start out in Great Zaimbabwe in Southern Africa. Great Zimbabwe, the ruined city near Lake Mutirikwe and the town of Masvingo, close to the Chimanimani Mountains, along with the Chipinge District. Great Zimbabwe was seen as a place was seen as an important symbol of achievement for Africans, and regaining the history was a major aim for those seeking a majority rule. In 1980, the internationally recognized independent country was renamed for the site, and its famous soapstone bird carvings were retained from the Rhodesian flag and Coat of Arms as a national symbol and depicted in the new Zimbabwean flag. Later in 1980 it officially became the modern state it is today. I also learned that in 1350, Great Zimbabwe was a center for gold trade. Local people told me that people from across the southern Africa brought gold to the Great Zimbabwe. The city didn’t really have a social structure, it was just classes of rich and poor…

What is an anti acid? According to Cindy Quarters (2010), “Antacids are medicines that are taken orally to help relieve sour stomach, heartburn, or acid indigestion”. This medicine is available without prescription but it is needed to take the correct dose. The different types of anti acids include calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide, and dihydroxyaluminum sodium carbonate. The cost of the anti acid will depend on how effective it is, meanings how useful are the components on the medicine used to stop sour stomach, heartburn or acid ingestion. As well as there are different types of anti acids in their chemical composition, there exist different physical types of anti acids as well. Plain antacid tablets are meant to be swallowed with water or other liquid. Effervescent tablets are available that will bubble and dissolve in water, and chewable tablets are meant to be chewed thoroughly before swallowing. The fourth type of antacid tablet is extended release. These are swallowed whole, like plain tablets, but are manufactured in such a way that the medication is released slowly, over time, providing long-term relief of symptoms.…
