The Cold War began 1947 in Europe after World War II ended in May 8, 1945. The Cold War started when two parties were allies and turned into an enemy. One was called Democracy and the other one called Communist. The cold war was the three main struggles between two world superpowers. There struggles were geopolitical, ideological, and economic. At the time the super powers were the United States and Soviet Union. The Cold War was involved in social issues, economic movements, and political movements during its time.
The key focus of the Cold War tensions was Berlin. The city of Berlin was slit into the democratic and communist sides. West Germany was for the democratic and the East Germany was for the communists. As two countries of Germany split, so did Berlin. France, England, and the U.S. controlled the west side of Berlin of the allies and the other side controlled by the Communist called the Soviet Union due to Berlin is a Capital to Germany. As the United States in 1961, the Soviet President name Nikita Khrushchev built a wall in East Germany to seal off West Berlin to stop the East German people to move to West Germany. According to the Chronicle of the Berlin Wall, “It became a symbol of the Cold War, which split the world politically into an eastern and a western hemisphere” (Chronik der Mauer).
As both superpowers started to create the alliance between other countries, the United States started the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) Pact.
It was an alliance between France, Britain, Canada, Mexico, and other democracy countries that are allies to United States. As for the Soviet Union side, they also created the Warsaw Pact between the other countries called Poland, Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria, and other Communist countries. For the NATO Pact, the United States sent in Financial Aid and other supplies to support their allies. As for the Warsaw Pact, Russia mostly controls the countries for their satellites.
The United States became behind on technology when Russia sent out their first satellite in space. The United States built a program call NASA to send out a man into space to out compete Russia. Both superpowers compete in technology. Ronald Reagan so called by the people calls it as a Star Wars when the technology is becoming so far advance. They created 11 aircrafts that carries ship that the United States built to out compete Russia and they are …show more content…

United States also had a nuclear war head in submarine ships. They created the bomb, carries aircrafts that have nuclear bomb. Also, the Soviet Union tries to also compete with the United States by also creating the same thing as the United States
did.
The Cuban missile crisis started when Cuba was in a civil war. Fidel Castro became the leader for Cuba after winning the rebellion. Fidel Castro went to join the Soviet Union side. According to Christopher Minster, “Castro soon implemented a Soviet-style communist regime in Cuba, much to the dismay of the United States,” which proved that Fidel join the Soviet. After John F. Kennedy decided to embargo trade with Cuba, Fidel Castro felt threatened as the only communist in American area. Fidel Castro wanted to transport missile from Russia. This event became known as a Cuban Missile Crisis. The United States Naval Armies blockaded the port and stop the missile porting to Cuba. As Nikita Khrushchev decided to pull back the missile from Cuba, he also made his term to leave Cuba alone and take away missiles in Turkey. John F. Kennedy put his missile away from Turkey and left Cuba alone.
The Cold War also played a part where it happened in China. The United States made a form policy containment that communism can’t spread to other countries. China became a big example that made the United States became their failure to containment. The United States was supporting a Chinese that was a democracy called the Republic of China lead by Jiang Jieshi and the rebel that are communist led by Mao Zedong. United States supported Jiang. While the Soviet also supports Mao, later on in the war Jiang lost to communism and went to flee in Taiwan. He put Taiwan as in his full controls. This was a biggest failure to United States of containment.
The Cold War also happened in the Korean War. After a civil war in China, Korea became in a civil war between democracy and communist. After WWII when Japan controlled Korea and after their defeat, Korea was split into two states, North Korea and South Korea. North Korea was governed by communist leader name Kim Il-sung and South Korea was governed by democracy leader name Chung Il-kwon. The war started when North Korea invaded South Korea wanting to unify Korea. As South Korea pleaded help to the United Nation, the United Nation sent troops and financial aid to South Korea. Most of the U.N. is mostly United States soldiers and some other U.N. soldiers. South Korea was pushed back far to their city port back to city of Busan and Gwangju. The U.N. army landed behind North Korea front lines and pushed them back, almost uniting Korea. China came and helped North Korea and pushed the South Korean Army and U.N. Army. The war now became a stalemate. Both sides created a peace treaty into 38 Parallel.
The Cold War influence also happened to be known as war called the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War was the most devastating war. Vietnam was colonized by the French soon later occupied by Japanese in WWII then after WWII was over, the French retook Indochina. Ho Chi Minh led a rebellion against the French and later on France left Vietnam alone. United States and Soviet Union came and made Vietnam split into North Vietnam controlled by Communist Ho Chi Minh and South Vietnam led by democratic Ngo Dinh Diem. South Vietnam was under a rebellion due to corrupted leaders and started a Viet Cong rebel led by the nationalist communist people. Ho supported Viet Cong and send supply to Viet Cong to unify Vietnam.
The United States joined the war due to the containment policy. United States send financial aid and military advisory and soldiers. The United States also had a secret war in Laos, which was to stop the Ho Chi Minh trail trade led by the United States secret called the CIA. The CIA recruited Hmong soldiers to fight and Laos became the first bomb countries and being bomb by Bombes which is the most deadly weapon that United States uses in the war for bombing. The Funding strains the United States and left South Vietnam and North Vietnam able to unify to Vietnam.
The Cold War had been playing every part of war that was between Communism and Democracy. Countries had also faced the Cold War influences which were Nicaragua, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, somewhere in the Middle East, and somewhere in Europe. First in the Middle East happened when Soviet Union wanted to expand their land to Afghanistan. Then the Middle East formed into a Freedom Fighter to help other Middle East countries to stop any kind of threat to the Middle East. The incident happened in Nicaragua, which had been into a civil war many times into of many influence of democratic and communist influence in Latin America. But later on, Nicaragua became a democratic state.
The fall of communism happened when the new president came in to the Soviet Union. Mikhail Gorbachev came in presidency for the Soviet Union. He started in a bad shape of economy in the Soviet Union and in debt of the military. Mikhail forcefully had to reform treaties with the United States. Other countries like Poland, Czechoslovakia, Lithuania, and other Eastern Europe countries took advantage and start to become more independent. The Wall in Germany later falls when the Communist became to a downfall. Ukrainian also gained independence from the Soviet Union which became a Republic of Russia. The Fall of Communism happened when the Warsaw Pact ended then the Soviet Union became no more in 1991. After the fall of the Soviet Union, the United States became the only and most advance superpower.
In conclusion, the Cold War had decreased America’s economic drastically and had created the Great Depression. Having had Japan attacking Pearl Harbor, a drastic memory in American’s hearts, really pulled the U.S. together to be more protective with its surrounding territory. Also, because of Communism and the Cuban missile crisis really put the U.S. into a tight spot to fight against Communist people, but after researching the cold war, it was mostly involved in social issues, economic movements, and political movements.
