Policies are pivotal implementations put in place by the government on local, state, and federal levels. There are endless amounts of policies put in place by the American government, with many of these policies directly influencing the lives of citizens. When looking at the reform in general, it is clear that Donald Trump is trying to increase jobs and productivity for American citizens. As many know, Donald Trump is a businessman. As a businessman, he knows how to make profit based on making decisions and persuading people to give him money. His decision when it comes to dealing with illegal immigrants is no different, for by deporting this population of people, more American citizens will be given better opportunities of employment and higher wages thus providing an outlet which may spur an increase in employees who work for his enterprise. Through research, it appears as though Donald Trump and the Republican Party agree on many aspects of the immigration reform. For instance, the Republican Party supports Donald Trump’s three core principles of immigration reform. This support is seen in the Republican Platform of 2016, for it states that “In a time of terrorism, drug cartels, human trafficking, and criminal gangs, the presence of millions of unidentified individuals in this country poses grave risks to the safety and sovereignty of the United States. Our highest priority, therefore, must be to secure our borders and all ports of entry and to enforce immigration laws” (Republican Platform, 2016, p. 26).
