Stempel would be in his box, getting death stares and dirty looks from the producers. This was very intimidating for not only Stempel but also the other contestants that would come on air. With several thousand dollars being offered, Stempel really did not want to answer it wrong but did anyway.
Feeling obligated to keep the general public happy, Herbert Stempel let a lot of people down by answering it wrong. How disappointing, the man who knows everything, got a question wrong. But that is what brought the draw of a bigger crowd in. With the many viewers the show already had, they gained several more. The show became an even bigger hit!
