She is dressed in a ruffled, yet simple white muslin dress, with a dark yellow ribbon around her waist tied into a bow in the back. She is wearing a hat tilted to the side with a partially visible blue bow, and blue feathers. Her face features a polite smile, with cheeks lightly tinted with pink rouge, and little to no other makeup. She is holding a very light pink rose in her left hand, and a single green ribbon in both of her hands. The right side of her body, and face is facing the viewer. Her hair is in a simple style: loose curls, and slightly pulled back. The foreground consists of a wall that seems to be painted off-black, which extends into the midground and background. This section of the painting is where Marie Antoinette’s waist, hips, and upper legs are situated. On what would be the viewer’s right side, there is also a counter in the foreground. Atop of the counter lies what appears to be a large blue vase containing more roses, with a single rose lying on the counter. The midground is where the queen’s chest and majority of her arms are. Her right arm is bent at a 90 degree angle, and her other hand holds a rose. Her dress sleeves are puffy and the neckline of her dress is ruffled. The background contains Marie Antoinette’s face.
