It’s been a long and very snowy day you sit by the fire looking out to the beautiful Mountain View your small but cozy cabin has. You look over at your sweet and very loving wife and think “I’ve deserved all of these achievements.” The American Dream is alive and in reach. Many people in America believe the American Dream is unachievable, due to the economic downfall we are currently experiencing but, a handful are still confident about its reality. The American Dream is still achievable with hard work because the ability to educate yourself properly is possible and with the right amount of determination and hard work any goal can be obtained, but obviously there will be countless complications along the infamous journey …show more content…
toward life-long happiness.
Education, something young children despise and take for granted. But why should it be? Education is very important ingredient in achieving The American Dream. A surprising amount of people believe that education is not as achievable as people say it is but, it is with true determination to find it. When my friend’s father graduated from high school, college education was not in his budget, but after months of searching for an average paying job and school loans, he eventually made it to a prestigious college and eventually became an architect designing a lot of the house’s and buildings in Spokane!
According to Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary, determination is explained as “a quality that makes you continue trying to do or achieve something that is difficult.” The American Dream is treated like its some sort of treasure no one can grasp, but like it explained earlier, with the perfect amount of work, determination, and sweat anything is achievable.
Wayne Ward Ford’s accomplishment story explained how “Wayne Ford fought through racism and struggled with drugs and other illegal activities.” Springboard, page 42. Journalist, Barbara Ehrenreich, once said “When the song ends, I give them a dollar, the equivalent of about ten minutes of sweat.” Springboard, page 74.Finding true happiness and working hard can be hard for some, especially in this generation.
The fact of the economy being the worst it has been in a long time , people often struggle with the availability with jobs and even living expenses. In Barbara Ehrenreich’s book, Nickel and Dimed, she tells the once untold stories of living on a weak paycheck, struggling with even finding the journey to the American Dream and with life itself. Although people have a difficult time finding jobs and living off of the low pay, living a minimum wage life can be easily avoided. With determination toward education, then the lifelong journey to happiness can be achieved.
Have you ever sat down and given up on The American Dream? What is the American Dream to you? How do you make it to this so called American Dream? So many citizens struggle with education, determination and life itself. Although dealing with life itself is difficult when trying to achieve “the dream”, being determined and fulfilling your educational needs will lift the weight off of ones’ life. With the right amount of determination and education, any lifelong goal or dream can be accomplished and be entitled as an “American
Dream.”
