Ancient Greeks influence on Western civilizations

The Ancient Greeks have influenced the Western civilizations in many ways. The ancient greeks have made many contributions to them in aspects of art, mathematics, philosophy, drama, science, and architecture. These ideas have dramatically changed Western Civilizations, and continue to influence the world. When the Ancient Greeks would expand their empire, they would spread their cultures as well, a form of cultural diffusion. One of the greatest contributions Greece has made to Western civilizations was philosophy. The most famous philosophers were Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates. Socrates thought that in order to find the truth, you had to ask questions, which is exactly what he encouraged others to do. His student, Plato, informs us of majority of what we know today. Plato believed women and men should all be treated equally, and believed a perfect society was one ruled by philosophers. He believed the government should check each other, and that was the best way a government could be. Then there is Aristotle, who was taught by Plato. Aristotle taught Alexander the great, and then started the impact of philosophy on Western civilizations. Philosophy gave morals and values to everyday life in Western civilizations. Plato has brought the idea of democracy into Western civilizations through his philosophy. Another significant contribution to the Western civilizations from Ancient Greeks is architecture. Greeks were very good, highly skilled architects who created many beautiful buildings, mostly found on top of Acropolis. The Parthenon is a great example of their work; the composition of it was used within Greek’s architecture, and even used to this day! Some of the designs from Ancient Greeks are even used today, such as the White House, the Capital building, and the Jefferson memorial.
