Date - After the 6th century
Description – A carving of 4 men on a stone, appear to be that the men are dancing or stretching whilst being nude on the event of which the stone has carved to show its love of art.
What Evidence does this source provide about the past? – This art work shows the culture of Ancient Sparta that entertainment such as dancing, music & games etc, takes a big impact of the Ancient Sparta Society. It shows how Ancient Sparta how they loved entertainment, it also shows how the Spartan men/warriors we’re well fit and built.
Is it reliable and/or useful in providing evidence about the past? – Yes this source is very reliable and/or useful source, it is because this source “Sparta to the battle Leuctra” is a primary source. Primary source are seen to have witnessed/experienced/or been the source the events being researched. Therefore they are 'primary' in that their evidence should have the least amount of bias, editing, redacting, etc. and therefore it can be useful, to support evidence in other cases for eg. How Sparta is well built and strong, also shows how Sparta how artistic they were with their detailed artworks from many centuries ago. It is also reliable to show how festive Sparta was with this hard evidence of the primary source of the Spartans dancing.
