And They Live Happily Ever After

During my childhood days, my mother used to read children stories like Jack and the Beanstalk, and The Ugly Duckling before I go to bed. I also loved reading fairy tales written by German authors like Hans Christian Andersen and the Grimm Brothers. Some of which are even made into motion pictures such as Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and the Little Mermaid. I even dreamed to live luxuriously someday like the kings and queens did in the story. But that’s far in reality. All these stories finished happily. Some of them even have the same ending like “the prince and the princess got married and they lived happily ever after”. Familiar isn’t it? But was this true? Was it happening in our real lives or it is just fictional? Do you believe that after marriage, a couple will forever experience happiness? Marriage is called the union of two individuals. It also refers to a set of cultural patterns. It is commonly defined as a partnership between two members of opposite sex known as husband and wife. A man and a woman entering this kind of relationship should be well-prepared. As I heard from married individuals, marriage is one of the crucial parts of their lives. Why crucial? During this stage, both husband and wife undergo certain adjustments. They will share the same room. They will be starting a new life on their own as married couples. When they will be living on a house separate from their parents, another adjustment is done. There will be no mothers to cook food for them. The wife will now take care of all the household chores - unless she will be hiring a maid to do it for her. She will do the cleaning, the laundry, cooking, budgeting and everything. If both couples have their own careers, they will now share their salaries with each other for the electric bill, the water bill, and other expenses.
