As jackson grew up he moved to vest of the appalachians which is now Tennessee. He began working as a prosecuting attorney in the settlement that became nashville. Later on he set up private practice and then met and married Rachel Robards. Jackson grew prosperous and decided to build his own mansion called the Hermitage. In 1796 Jackson joined a convention that was drafting the new Tennessee state constitution. He was also the first to be elected to the U.S. house of representatives from Tennessee.
Jackson , who was a major war general in the war of 1812 commanded U.S. forces against the creek indians who were allies of the british. Jackson and his wife we accused of adultery regularly because Jackson's wife rachel was not legally divorced from her first husband when she married jackson. In a short time after the victory in 1828 his wife rachel died at the hermitage. The Jacksons did not have any children but they were close to cousins, nephews, and nieces.
