My # 3 is Uncle Billy. He is one of the guys you just can't trust because he can stab you in the back. He is exiled for being a slues robber and stealing gold from minors. He doesn't play too much of a role in this story.…
My favorite movie character is Dr. Frank-N-Furter from the movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Frank is something of a mad scientist, bent on creating the perfect life form to serve as his sexual plaything. He seems to be the leader of the Transylvanians on Earth. Frank is mainly concerned with himself and lacks the ability to see the consequences of his behavior. Though he did bring out the sexual creatures in a young, repressed couple, he did this with his own amusement in mind. He commits murder and cannibalism without a second thought, as well as locking Eddie in a deep-freezer. (http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0010150/bio)…
With hair as red as the surface of the boiling hot sun, Erin walks into a giant concrete building. She is wearing her favorite outfit; black converse sneakers, black skinny jeans, and a black oversized t-shirt. But she is not emo, she just likes her outfit. Once she enters the school, she stumbles and almost trips while she is cutting through the crowd of mean teenaged kids. As she passes each teen, she listens while their mouths whisper “Oh my God! She must be emo” and “She obliviously cuts herself.” People are not always who they seem. Erin had a stereotype planted on her like Walter White did in the ‘Pilot’ and ‘Crazy Handful’ in Breaking Bad by Vince Gilligan. While some may argue that Walter never had a stereotype placed on him, I will…
The title of the film I watched was called “The Candidate” with Robert Redford. It is a story about a lawyer and environmentalist named Bill Mckay who is persuaded to run for the Democratic nomination for the state of California U. S. Senate race. He is a staunch liberal with no political aspirations of his own but his father was previously governor of California so McKay’s backers feel he would give the Republican incumbent a run for his money. The Democratic election manager gives McKay a proposition that he can get out of the race at any time and that he is sure to lose but they need a familiar name to place on the ticket. Mckay is persuaded because it gives him the chance to speak to groups of people and spread his liberal values -which include the rights of a woman to choose abortion,…

O'Brien's The Things They Carried describes the many different things soldiers carried during the war. Of course they would carry items they would need to survive but not only that, they would also carry personal items. Some of the things the soldiers would carry were a little odd but would mean something to them. Ranging from Henry Dobbins' girlfriend's pantyhose to Mitchell Sanders' condoms, the unit was filled with bizarre articles that held sentimental feeling. Lieutenant Jimmy Cross, however, restricted his personal belongings to pictures and letters from Martha.…
American Psycho is one of the fiercest criticisms that an American writer has made of his own country: a complacent and self-indulgent society. For his argument, the author has chosen a risky path: Patrick Bateman, not a rebel or an outcast, Patrick is a young man of success, however, also capable of rape, torture and murder.…
Christopher Wallace stood a large man at standing 6" 3' and weighing 300 some pounds .Christopher aka "Biggie Smalls" named himself after a hustling character in Bill Cosby's "Lets Do it Again" action-comedy. He felt that the name fit him well and said in an interview with John Farley, Author of Parents aren't supposed to Like it, "It suits my flashy life style" (388). Biggie struggled financially growing up. He was teased and considered "just another fat kid" he dropped out of high school and couldn't get a good job. When he was 15 he began selling crack on a street corner. He did this on and off for several years to make a living, until one day he discovered "Gangsta Rap" which brought him to quick fame, success, and money. His first album,…
My favorite character I the book is the pigman. The pigman is my favorite character in the book because he finds friends and things to do even though he is very lonely. Mr. Pignati finds bobo and john and Lorraine. Even though it seems like he would just give up and die, he finds a way to have fun even though he is lonely. In conclusion, Mr. Pignati is my favorite character because he finds a way to have…
One character from this novel that I strongly like is Stanislaus Katczinsky, or “Kat” as his friends call him. Kat is my favorite because he is always the one who takes charge. He is easily my favorite character because his maturity throughout the novel keeps him and his troop alove in many situations. I enjoy Kat’s role in the book because he is mentally and physically strong, and he does not focus on himself but others first. Something…
One of my favorite characters was Josh, since he is one of the only characters that seems to act of his own free will, ignoring the attitudes and beliefs of those around him, and giving the appearance of being free from the restraints of the racial inequality that surround the African-Americans in the story. Josh would rather die than be subservient and treated like an animal. I at first found this admirable but was later sad to read that his hatred got the…
The novel Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan is about four Chinese American immigrant families in San Francisco who…
Of all the characters that I’ve “met” through books and movies, two stand out as people that I most want to emulate. They are Attacus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird and Dr. Archibald “Moonlight” Graham from Field of Dreams. They appeal to me because they embody what I strive to be. They are influential people in small towns who have a direct positive effect on those around them. I, too, plan to live in a small town after graduating from college, and that positive effect is something I must give in order to be satisfied with my life.…
A fictional character that directly influenced me was Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray. Dorian taught me to never let the influence of others deflate who I am as a person. Dorian's trusting disposition was his true downfall. His looks only mattered to him once he had been fooled into valuing them. He taught me to never lose sight of who I am, or who I intend to be. The character Dorian Gray also taught me wisdom. I learned to determine who my real allies are before I allow the synthetic ones to betray me. Dorian's naïve attitude sealed his fate. From him I learned that trust should be the fore runner in all of my relationships. Dorian's countless transgressions and iniquities taught me to always concern myself with the preservation of my own integrity. Dorian's tragic tale forced me to create a code of ethics for myself out of fear that I could one day become the mishap that he became. In life, we must all slay our “dragons”. The most important part of slaying our “dragons” is the way that we do it. We must do this in a way that does not compromise who we are as human beings. Dorian allowed his self to be transformed into his own dragon, which eventually led to him slaying his self. In summation, Oscar Wilde's fictional character Dorian Gray from the book The Picture of Dorian Gray had a largely direct influence on me. Dorian Gray taught me to treat myself like a sentimental keepsake. He taught me to never allow the influence of others to taint my integrity and to trust my own moral compass. Dorian Gray made me who I am today, and without him, I shutter at the thought of who I would have been.…
Based on the novel that I have read entitled ‘Around The World In 80 Days’ written by Jules Vurne, the character that I disliked the most is Detective Fix. He was the detective that despatched from England in search of the bank robber.…
