Anger In Jacobean Theatre
Anger has been defined through different perspectives and by many famous writers. For Aristotle , anger can be an instrument of revenge which is the result of grievous wish. Anger has been also defined according to Seneca as a sort of craziness that ruins the process of thinking and affects our humanity. Whereas, for modern psychologists anger is a fundamental and naturalistic feeling that is for all human being and this feeling is essential for life. Moreover, anger has been represented on the stages since the ancient Greeks. The Greek tragedies have reflected anger, death, and the horrifying feelings also. The Jacobean theatre has also presented the anger. There were many of works in that time reflected pure anger such, Hamlet and King Lear by Shakespeare . Furthermore, there were many characteristics such ,realism which is one of the most important characteristics. Authors have started to represent the issues of the society in a real way. Authors have expressed also the idea of being accepted and how many people searching to know the way of life. Besides, there was a use of different languages and styles to reflect anger and the real society .Kitchen sink drama is considered as one of the main characteristics ,that presents the domestic life and shows how people are displeased. In addition, there were many famous authors who tackled social and political issues and they express their anger on their works . for example, John Osborne who has expressed his anger in Look Back In Anger, Arnold Wesker who has tackled the issues of the working class and his famous play is The Kitchen, and Edward Bond , who has tackled the political and social systems as in his known play
