To begin with, the rioters in the Pardoner’s Tale have shown greediness because at one point in the story they considered betrayal so that they could stay with the gold that was under the tree. The rioters were leaded to their death by the old man which represented Death, Death was the one that showed them to their death only because they wanted all the gold that was under …show more content…
the tree. The rioters arrive to the tree and find “Of florins of fine gold, new minted, round…” (442). The rioters are seen to be blinded by the gold because after this they just want to get rid of each other so that they themselves can stay with the gold all for themselves. These three rioters have later but betrayal on their hands by having one feeding them poison and the other rioters planning on killing the rioter that has the wine with poison. “And fetch us bread and wine here, privately…” (467). In this piece this rioter has already put the poison in the wine and is on his way to the tree. When the rioter was getting the poison the other two were planning on how to kill him. The rioter ends up getting killed so then the the remaining rioters gets ill or get close to death because her had drank the wine. So then the rest of the rioters die because the wine does not let any living thing live after they are exposed to the poison. In the end Death is the one that stays with the gold.
Another great big sin is anger.
Anger is a big deal for the rioters in the Pardoner’s tale. In the Pardoner’s tale the rioters show anger toward death during the whole tale and the preacher at the beginning of the story. The rioters have shown their anger also because they wanted to keep the gold that was sitting under the tree that the old man had pointed them to, which was towards their death. The rioters are mainly angry because they can not find their friend and they have been looking for their friend for a long time now. The rioters were also drunk they were also just sitting around getting drunk just waiting for something to happen. The rioters really did not say anything. They would just get mad when the could not be able to find their friend at the end the rioters started to realize that death has taken the rioters friends life but the rioters never figured that Death wanted to take their life away as well. The rioter’s are angry because they have to share their gold with each other which leads to their death. If the rioters would not have been greedy with materialism all three of them would have been alive and
good.
In conclusion in The Pardoner’s Tale greed is demonstrated by the three rioters in this story, by them wanting and killing each other just for the gold, in any scenario materialism is never good especially when it comes to friendships and relationships. In the Pardoner’s tale another deadly sin that is show by these rioters is anger, Anger is a sin because sometimes it is not necessary for anyone to getting mad or for them to have a grudge on everyone that they meet. The rioters showed anger because in the beginning of the tale the rioters were furious because they were looking for their friend and could not find them, but they shouldn’t have gotten angry because Death took his life away for a reason.
