When we look at the situation that is presented to Angi, before she makes a decision there are a few things that she needs to look at ethically. The first is the obligation she has to her research work, the grant she received should be spent on producing the best work possible over the summer, and that includes selecting the best teachers assistant (TA) available. Angi have four choices to choose from, Robert a very qualified TA who really needs the money so that he could pay for school, there’s Michelle who is also very qualified and is finically stable, there’s Carson who could use the money, but has a lot of personal obligations that could make it difficult to undertake the summer research project, and then there’s Analisa, a very good writer who has skills that would be an asset to the research, but has voiced her frustration with faculty, and may become an obstacle if she feel that she’s being treated unfairly by any means. When weighing achieving success in the summer research project based on theTA qualification, and the person who needs in the most based on their financial situation, Robert is the most ethical choice.
