Abstract
In order to investigate the level of awareness and support of animal abuse of teenagers, our team conducted an online and paper survey. We wanted to find out the level of awareness so that we can aid in helping to educate the children to be less abusive to animals. Most of the children would help animals when they are abused, and most of them are aware of at least one animal organization and what they do to help animals. The percentage of people who have the basic knowledge of what organizations do and the care for animals is higher than what we predicted. We found out that 70% of the people know SPCA (Society of Prevention towards the cruelty of Animals) and that only 30% of the people think that killing is considered as a form of animal abuse. Also, we found out there are 9% of students who would ignore abused animals.
In conclusion, Singapore teenagers are generally adequately informed and aware of the protection and support of animals.
Further recommendation: We would look further into what people think of abuse towards domestic animals and stray animals respectively, so we can study the characteristic of pet owners to educate others about animal abusing.
