For my champion project I chose to do my essay on animals, more specifically, on the subject of abused or homeless animals. According to the humane society website on average “39% of the U.S. households own at least one dog.” For cats it states the “33% of the U.S. households own at least one cat.” That means that about 72% of the U.S. households own at least one of the two animals I just listed. There are over a thousand of animals in the world so that concludes that over one third of the U.S. owns a pet. Most pet owners love their pets deeply; these people would most likely feel upset and blame themselves if something were to happen to that animal. They care so much that they would go to the extremes to save that animal if it ever got hurt or died.
I am a pet owner myself so when I say this it is from my own experiences. Many people believe that it is cruel that some people abuse these animals and hurt them for a couple of dollars and a quick laugh with friends. Some do it even because it seems amusing for them. For the people who love these animals it really hurts them, they feel hurt, sorrowful, heartbroken, and just upset. I am saying this to show how much I care about animals and how much others do, and for the ones that don’t to help give them a chance to gain awareness of this torture. This torture is not just to the animal when you throw it on the streets, use it in fights, or kill it. This ends up coming back to the animal’s owner and it tortures them to. I am going to raise awareness for this kind of abuse and torture for both the animals and the people involved in cases like these.
What I am planning to do to help raise awareness is to do fundraising and partner with certain organizations and donate money to help the cause. I am not the first person to come up with the idea to raise awareness so I plan on raising money for some of the existing organizations. I do not want to just donate it all too
