Animal Farm Boxer And The Russian Revolution

Since the beginning, despite the fact that Boxer is very honest and hard-working, his intellectuality is not considered high due to the lack of education, resembling the working classes of Russia during the Russian Revolution. After Napoleon expels Snowball, there are obstacles to go over within the “Animal Farm”, in which Boxer convinces himself by saying, “If Comrade Napoleon says it, it must be right” (Orwell 56). Boxer has not earn much opportunity to receive proper education that his standard of good and evil is not clear enough for himself to distinguish between them that Boxer believes everything that is told. This was exact case to the low working class during Russian Revolution—they did not have anyone to tell them what is right or
wrong that they had to believe what was told to them, without questioning the source of the news. Subsequent to the unexpected abominable execution of animals, Boxer falls into deep thought for nothing of this kind has ever happened before, and he says, “I do not understand it… It must be due to some fault in ourselves. The solution...is to work harder. From now onwards I shall get up a full hour earlier in the mornings” (Orwell 85). Corresponding to most of the other farm animals, Boxer does not have enough intellectuality to actually understand what has just happened and why it happened, causing Boxer to struggle mentally and emotionally. Boxer is unable to think of a proper solution to such problem but to work harder since that is what he has done his whole life. The working class people was unable to do anything during the time of chaos, nonetheless, they thought that working harder with their full strength was the only solution of such problems. Despite the fact that Boxer and working class people are both humble and hard-working, they lack of education, causing them to be manipulated to work harder by those with better education but improper use of it.
