Animal Farm is a story by George Orwell. This story is an allegory for the Russian Revolution. It takes place on Manor Farm in England and follows events that take place when a group of animals choose to overthrow their unloving farmer, Mr. Jones. A famous author named Richard Wright once said, “All literature is a protest”. In simpler terms, books have been written to raise awareness about problems in order for humans to find solutions for them. This quote is true because in most works of literature the author makes their characters go through difficult obstacles to overcome that not everyday people go through. The book Night was written to protest against anti-Semitism, which means hatred towards Jews. This book took place during the Holocaust where times were hard and unforgettable for the Jews. The main character Elie takes the reader on a grieving journey where he describes his accounts from the Holocaust where he was mistreated and was seen as an outsider. On the other hand, the book Animal Farm by George Orwell was written to alert the world about totalitarian leaders and perplexed people. Totalitarian leaders had control over society, which gave them the right to mistreat their people and abuse their power. Napoleon who was the main villain of…
The quote written by Lord Acton, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Relates to the novel Animal Farm for the reason that in Animal Farm power influences the characters, the pigs in particular because the power they obtained blinded them of their initial idea, which was to build a fair and just society on Manor Farm. Using the ability to persuade the other animals on the farm, to their advantage, the pigs seized the commanding role on the farm. With that they continue to abuse their power until they became exactly like those who they were rebelling against, the humans. Consequently, this shows the effect power has if used immorally.…
John F. Kennedy once stated “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. In other words, if we can’t resolve our problems peacefully, then violent revolution is bound to happen. This is true because in life when people cannot get what they want peacefully, they turn to violence. The pieces of literature which prove the quote true are the book; Animal Farm written by George Orwell, and the song; “The International” written by Eugene Pottier. Animal Farm relates to this lens because the animals have a revolution which turns out to be entirely violent, and not at all peaceful. “The International” relates to the lens because it is about the servants coming together to fight for their freedom instead of peacefully working towards it.…
The theme of "Animal Farm" is implied. Throughout my reading, and from what I have read about the book, it is safe to know that the book moves on a parallel with the Russian revolution, and the events afterwards. With that said, the theme is power. Power is constantly shifting throughout the story in some form. In the beginning we are met with the power of Mr. Jones and Old Major. Later on, the power shifts from Mr. Jones and Old Major to all of the animals. The entire story revolves around this pattern of the importance of power. Power, in Animal Farm, allows one group of animals control the others, and manipulate the rules. As well, no matter where you are in the story, power is playing some role or influence on a main…
Napoleon was seen as the strongest example of Corruption in the book; his use of power was for his own purpose, using the threat of force and coercion to compel the other animals to do his bidding and commands. He uses propaganda to confuse and brainwash some animals in thinking what he is doing is for the greater good of the animals and their home. The use of the Napoleon’s personal dogs was to threaten any animal that opposes his command or protests’. Coercion was also used by Napoleon to fool the unintelligent animals that are easily being misleaded. As Napoleon’s power is unrestricted, he goes further and further with his power abusing it as far as alternating the entire commandment’s all animals lived by. It shows that the attraction for power had already seeped into Napoleons…

After the passing of Old Major, Napoleon and Snowball gained control of Animal Farm, formerly known as Manor Farm. Snowball had a persuasive voice, was very intelligent and was an overall good leader.Napoleon, on the otherhand, was not a great public speaker, was not as intelligent as Snowball, nor was he as good a leader. Under their govern, they ran the farm smoothly. All animals were fully fed and the work the animals put into the farm, they got back. (QUOTE) By being able to benefit themselves rather than a greedy human, the animals were glad to get…
Too much power corrupts those who possess it just as Joseph Stalin did horrible things against Russia when he gained power. The main character Napoleon did many things to Animal Farm to corrupt it. In the novel Napoleon was corrupted by his power. Napoleon abused and deceived the other animals and finally became what he had rebelled against. Napoleon terrorized animals by killing many of them. He killed four pigs for communicating with Snowball and he killed three hens for confessing that Snowball came to them in their dreams.…

Propaganda is the act of perverting information in order to influence the thoughts or actions of others. "Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely" Lord Acton (1834-1902). It is believed and can be notably seen in the past that many great people become dangerous and corrupt under vast amounts of power. It is this which is usually the greatest cause of their downfall. As we know many people fail, lose their status, or reputation when they are in a higher position. People of status, who have large amounts of control seem to become "power-hungry" and find it necessary to have it in their everyday lives, they need this power to function. Unfortunately in these types of situations, the well being of the "lower classes" becomes irrelevant and the only beings of importance are the ruler and his "comrades" and associates who benefit from agreeing with and enforcing the beliefs of their higher figure.…
