Why sit back and be silent when you can be the voice? When people conform into what others tell them to, their internal voices will never be expressed to the world. Silence results in allowing others to take control. Those who live how they want and make noise instead of staying quiet, get their point across and take a stand in the world. This is the case for the dogs in the story Animal Farm and Rosa Parks from the 1950’s, America. The dogs allowed their Leader Napoleon to take control over their lives, while Rosa Parks took control over her own life and took a stand against how society had categorized her. Conformity results in allowing other people to take control while nonconformity results in you taking control. The dogs from Animal Farm were all conformists. As puppies, they were raised under the conformity of Napoleon. “ As soon as they were weaned, Napoleon took them away from their mothers”(Page 35, line 3-4). When she reached the end of high school, she was already involved in the civil rights movement. According to Bio. Rosa-Parks, a website that gives detailed biographies of people in the past, “She soon became actively involved in civil rights issues by joining the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP in 1943”.
