Animal Testing Persuasive Speech
“Welcome to Jurassic Park!” And that’s where it all went wrong, Jurassic Park’s scientists didn’t think about the consequences when they bred dinosaurs, “...your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, that they didn't stop to think if they should...” words from Jurassic Park. There are various consequences of science that affect us in our daily lives and are very real and quite intense. But animal testing is one of the biggest. It’s very important that we are aware that animal testing causes thousands of unneeded animal deaths and creates problems that negatively affect humans.
According to PETA.org, more than one-hundred million animals die yearly because of animal testing. This is a serious issue that increases the chances of extinction in animals. Animals are tested for companies like Maybelline, Clinique, and Benefit. They all use animal testing on their products to test if they are suitable for humans. But this doesn’t even make sense, our technology is advanced enough to not have to use animal experimentation. All kinds of animals are tested on every day. According to Cruelty-Free International,

One Green Planet brings to my attention that we end up “supporting” animal testing. We pay taxes. When we pay taxes we are paying for animal testing ourselves, therefore supporting it. PETA.org brings to my attention in their article titled, Experiments on Animals: Overview, that with human volunteers we can get scientific problems figured out and find solutions to our problems without harming anyone or anything. Including harmless animals. Alexis Croswell from One Green Planet says, “Drugs that fail in animal models cause us to potentially ignore real cures.” And she’s right, what if something doesn’t work on animals but it doesn’t work on humans? What if animal testing is doing nothing and is only harming animals? This is a real

Therefore most of these animal tests are inaccurate. Diseases that may develop in humans are genetically engineered differently than any other animal. This relates back to the unethical side, as millions of animals are being tortuously killed just to be disposed of. Animal tests have no way of predicting the outcomes or results on a human, medical treatment is very specific to the individual being treated. Prescribed medicines are unique and are tweaked to work for that human specifically, testing on a whole new species does not effectively correspond to the human body.…

Most animal testing is very inaccurate because human beings have different chemistry than animals, some animals are similar to humans but they have gaps that can prevent or make false cures that can do more harm than help that is why animals are given medicine that people are not prescribed. “U.S. Food and Drug Administration found that 92 percent of drugs entering clinical trials following animal testing fail to be approved. Of those approved, half are withdrawn…

Animal testing is rarely successful since animals have different physiologies than humans. There has been many studies that have shown inaccuracy and unsuccess in animal testing. Studies show, “90 percent of medications approved for human use after animal testing later proved ineffective or harmful to humans in clinical trials” (Stop Animal Testing) and also, “Animal-tested drugs have killed, disabled or harmed millions of people and lead to costly delays as well” (Stop Animal Testing). It is evident that animal testing lacks accuracy and has dangerous consequences, therefore it should no longer be…

There are a lot of bad things that happen in this world and Animal Testing is one of them. Doctors,Scientists and other people test on these animals everyday. In my opinion there should be no animal testing at all. It is cruel. Right now there are millions of animals sitting in cold cages waiting for their next painful procedure. The stress, sterility and boredom causes them to develop neurotic behaviors such as, biting themselves and running around in circles. Most of these animals are killed after the testing because there is no possible way for them to live after this has happened. More than 100 million animals suffer this torture. Exact numbers have not been found, in rats, mice, birds, and cold blooded animals take up about 90 percent.…

Though patriarchy was nothing new in the ancient world, how did the evolution of the three major western religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) and the political disintegration of the Roman world by the early medieval period impact women? What effects did this have on attitudes toward women and their role in the church/faith? How did the expansion of customary laws (primarily Germanic and Islamic) reinforced by religious codification versus objective laws (Roman) alter the rights or value of women? How might this have been reflected in family life? On the other hand, what avenues for intellectual life and control over their person did some women have in the various cultures? How was this affected by religion? Do you think women’s roles in those same faiths and associated family life have changed in the modern world? Why or why not?…

Animal research is important in understanding diseases and developing ways to prevent them. Kidney transplants, the polio vaccine, and heart surgery techniques have all been developed with the help of animal research. With increased efforts throughout the scientific community, effective treatments for diabetes, diphtheria, and many other diseases have had increased effectiveness courtesy of animal testing. Scientists inject a lab animal with a virus such as AIDS or cancer, and then try to cure them. If it works on a lab animal, they have developed a new cure. The followers of animal testing agree that if animal testing had been eliminated, that many of the medications and medical procedures that we currently use today wouldn’t be present and the expansion of future treatment would be greatly restricted. For example, more than 100,000 people have been hospitalized and later died from toxic reactions to medications in 1994 that were not predicted by animal…

Animal testing has always been a dispute between people; some people think it’s morally wrong and some people think it helps with medical and scientific breakthroughs. Drugs that people use or cosmetics that are used could have been tested through animals before being stocked on shelves. About 800 animals are tested on before a drug is passed to clinical trials (“Is animal”). Many animals get tested on, but many like mice, rabbits, hamsters, monkeys, dogs, cats, pigs, and some other animals get tested on. Animals can be used to find new advances in medical treatment and check safety for products, but these animals that get tested on can go through pain and death. Animal testing is wrong and should be stopped because…

Animal testing has contributed too many life-saving cures and treatments. “California Biomedical Research Association starts that nearly every medical breakthrough in the last 100 years has resulted directly from research using animals” (ProCon). Animal testing has helped save many lives today and come up with new cures for medical purposes. Because of animal testing we were able to find a new molecular and genetic understanding of tumor biology which led us to treatment that directly kills cancer cells. “This year, approximately 182,800 women in the United states will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer” (AMP). Alec Baldwin, who has broken with the PETA over the value of animal research in developing treatments for breast cancer told the USA that one cannot be ‘single issue’ when it comes to medical reassure. Animal testing was the reason for the development of Herceptin and tamoxifen. Which are two medicines that have saved many men and women’s lives today. It helps us prevent and give us hope to find a way to cure. Studies with animals determined with folic acid, a B vitamin, helps prevent serious birth defects of the spinal cord and the brain when taken before conception and early in pregnancy. Also, “research involving animal models continues to improve treatment’s for chronic complications including blindness, kidney disease,…

Many people today can say they love their pet, whether it is a dog, a cat, a rabbit, or fish. Little do we actually think about the animals suffering to the torture of cruel animal testing that goes on behind the scenes of the company’s we love. Maybelline, Head and Shoulders, and Clorox are all companies that test on animals, yet are still supported by the thousands of people that buy and use their products. I believe the main reason people continue to support companies that perform animal testing is because society today is not informed or educated about the severity of animal testing. People do not know or care to research if a company performs animal testing. Besides consumers keeping these companies alive and running, animal testing is not humane or morally right. It has been scientifically proven that animals can to a certain extent feel pain (Tell Me if it Hurts: Investigating Whether Animals Feel Pain by Caroline…

Millions of dogs, cats, bunnies, rodents, and so many more other animals are being used for animal testing. These animals are forced to be in labs and are locked up in cages until they die of the drugs that are inserted inside their bodies. Once the researchers say the drugs are safe humans are taking a risk to be severely ill, hospitalize, or even die. Animal testing for medicine is harmful to both humans and animals because the side effects that occur in the animals are different for humans and the drugs that work on animals fail for humans.…
