Anne Frank has taught us that although life can be hard, that there is always time for happiness. She survived and matured and maintained her positivity for as long as it was physically possible for her to do so. Regardless of the stress and troubles in her life, Anne Frank proved to be an important figure in history, because she showed us that even when the odds are stacked against us and the future looks bleak, people must try and stay positive. Her parents were Otto Frank and Edith Frank-Holländer. Anne went to a school called The 6th Montessori School from 1934 and 1941. Anne enjoyed school and liked to participate in plays. One of her former teachers ‘Mrs Kuperus’ remembered that Anne was a talker who always ideas, and was not at all shy. In fact, Anne was always ready to play one of the main characters. Anne left The 6th Montessori Elementary School when she was 12 years old. It wasn’t her choice, the Nazi occupiers decided that all of the Jewish children had to leave the school, and instead attend a segregated school for the Jewish youth. Her family was terrified. Fortunately, Anne's father Otto had created a hiding place for his family a year earlier in the rear section of the Opekta-Werke building at Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. It was disguised with a bookshelf over the doorway and was an excellent place for them to hide away. The Frank family moved into hiding the day after receiving the summons on July 6, 1942.
By this point Anne was well aware of the importance of maintaining her diary as a testament of the turmoil and horror caused by the Nazi occupation. Anne overcame her fear of leaving out too many of the important details, while still remaining cautious.
Anne described life living in their secret hide-away, and the fact that her Mother, Father and sister: Margot, being together provided some much needed comfort.
