Rowling’s parents were Peter James Rowling and Anne Volant. She grew up in Chepstow, Gwent where she went to Wyedean Comprehensive. Rowling's mother Anne died after ten years suffering from multiple sclerosis. Rowling and her family moved to Wyedean in 1983 and studied in the University of Exeter.
And after graduating from Exeter University, Rowling moved to Portugal in 1990 to teach English as a foreign language. There, she met and married journalist Jorge Arantes, to give birth to her daughter a year later.
