"Three Coaching Styles." Successful Coaching. Martens, Rainer. Champaign, IL: Human Kinetics, 1997. Print.
The book Successful Coaching is mainly about the different coaching styles. There are three main coaching styles that the source talks about. The three coaching styles are command style, submissive style and cooperative style. In the commanding style the coach makes all the decisions. The submissive style is coaches that make as few decisions as possible. The cooperative style are coaches who share decision making with their athletes.
This source can really help me because of the amount of information it gives about coaching styles. I am not sure just yet which coaching style describes me. The command coaching style does not necessary fit me because I do not want to make decisions, and I do think the athlete’s role is to listen, to absorb, and to comply. I do not fit in the submissive style of coaching at all because that style of coaching is a “do what you want “style for the athletes. Occupational style is my style because in the source it tells that it is the kind of coaching that share decisions with their athletes, although they recognize their reasonability to provide leader ship. This source is very trustworthy and was published and posted in libraries.
