I. INTRODUCTION:

The Alternative Learning System, since its implementation, saw the great success of its programs. As an alternative way of learning, it provides a viable alternative to the existing formal educational system. Its two major programs the Accreditation and Equivalency Program (A&E) and the Basic Literacy Program (BLP) become the new hope for our out-of-school youths and adults in fulfilling their dreams since some of them haven't been in school for such a long time. Another program of ALS, the Informal Education (InfEd), is a lifelong process of learning by which every person acquires or accumulates knowledge, skills, attitudes and insights from daily experiences at home, at work, at play and from life itself.

Andrew Carnegie used vertical integration in his steel business to reduce competition and make an amazing profit. The operation he used to control every step of the process was mining the ore, mining the coal, shipping to foundry and actually making the steel from the ore, etc. Andrew thought about the process and the development of vertical integration. He used his ideas to his own improvement and he maintained the steel mills but also maintained areas like railways and even coal fields. He arranged for his money to be paid to another one of his businesses. He kept the money in the family, to prevent other companies from putting the “screws” to him and cutting availability and raising his prices. For example, railroads and shipping businesses would be strong competitors but for others because they would all have his business. This facilitated Andrew to vend to other consumers.…

The first Target store was founded and created in 1932 in Roseville, Minnesota by George Dayton. Originally created to be a discounted merchandising company, Target surpassed all doubters expectations when it began to offer common stock, and 1969, merging with J.L. By the end of the “Achievement” chapter, Rodriguez has some very profound things to say about his views on educational reform and personal evolution. The things that he says in the ending pages of the chapter do not really seem like they are the tale of a “happy ending” but more so, a large pun or an ironic statement made about how our desires entail such influential consequences. On pages 72-73, Rodriguez basically states that education is a tough process, a changing process even, and if one wants to become educated, one must be willing to embody some type of mental and/or spiritual change. He makes the point that some people, which would most likely be hippies or democrats –but he refers to them as “Radical educationalists”, are quick to…

A jubilant hello from Alabama! I am Valerie and my most rewarding accomplishment stands about 5 foot in height, and she is 10-years of age. My greatest blessing, joyfully filled my heart at the age of nine when Jesus Christ became my Savior. When my daughter was of the age of two, I received a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. Because God’s hand has directed me to travel a new path, I am pursuing an M.B.A. in Leadership. Frankly, I lack experience in international business, with this marking my second semester in the business program. With careful consideration, I chose Liberty University based on the university commitment to educating accompanied with a biblical perspective. Ultimately, I want a business that honors God by spreading…

As you grow up, you learn many lessons from the adults around you, soaking in every gesture, word, and action. As a child, you strive to be your parents, or better yet, your older sister. I am the youngest of four. I have two older brothers, and an older sister, all of them have influenced my life and given me the motivation to work harder to be the students, leaders, and good people that they are today. However, growing up in a big household can bring confusion to who you truly are. Over the years, you fight for attention (or with each other), and it is easy to lose who you are along the way. Within myself, I have found someone with leadership qualities, perseverance, personality, and good-citizenship.…

There are many accomplishments in my life of which I am proud, however there are two for which I am especially proud. Those being, having the opportunity to play varsity shortstop in high school, and having good enough grades to be nominated for, and to be admitted into, the National Honor Society. These accomplishments make me proud because they are goals that I was able to set and accomplish for myself. These are successes that not everyone can say that they have achieved.…

There are several goals I have set for myself in college; I aspire to make the dean's-list in all the years I attend college, I anticipate participating in a minimum of two organizations which can get me more absorbed in the community, and finally, I want to become involved with the student body, and attend as many school sponsored events as I can. In my junior year, when I heard I made the honor roll at my high school, I was overcome with a feeling of fulfillment. This was the first time I had made the honor roll and with this achievement was a feeling of pride for the work I put in, and for the way the work reflected in my grades. But, I stayed hungry and kept working to maintain this honor, and I finished on the honor role for the entirety…
