To be honest I wasn't quite sure what the class was about until I read the class description. The description set me at ease and made me feel more confident with the class content and my interest in the course material. Having previously taken psychology and sociology classes which I very much enjoyed, I was excited to be enrolled in Anthropology 101. Having traveled quite a bit in my life, I have always been interested in different cultures, religions and the variances of societies. I hope to attain more knowledge as to why cultures, societies, and religions are different and similar. Having a better understanding and respect for other cultures and beliefs will allow me to mentally grow and not be so narrow minded about the …show more content…
I have been in and out of college for the past 10-12 years and in that time I have made many mistakes and learned from them. Maturity has also played a large role in my failures and successes in college. Time management has been one of the toughest challenges I have faced while taking college classes. Being an active duty United States Marine, I find myself working 15 hours days, traveling and spending the majority of my time away from home. With that being said, I have had to learn how to manage my time and prioritize tasks and events in my life. Finishing my degree is very important to me and as I matured over the years I have had to evaluate my priorities and make sacrifices in order to achieve my personal goals. Now that I am further along in my degree program I am finding that the classes are getting more challenging and require more out of me. This also means that I have to spend more time teaching myself and adapting to the requirements of the class. Juggling all of this along with my job and trying to spend quality time with my family is hard. When I get stressed out or overwhelmed I like to refer to a quote I heard a long time ago, “It’s supposed to be hard.
