Despite the different kinds of measures taken against racism including African-American Civil Rights movement, Anti-Apartheid Movement, Hate Crime Laws, or bans on any racism manifestations, it continues to be a constant concern. For some people, it is a vague concept, because it reveals itself in different forms. For others, it is simply based on unreasonable believes and hate. So racism, after all, became a label that is used for humiliation, based on hatred of the individual or even entire ethnic groups. I will try to address the problem of racism from several points of view taking into account the areas in which racism exists and manifest itself; to prove that…

I absolutely believe that in order to get a fair trial a jury must be racially diverse. Without a diverse jury I do not believe a black man can receive a fair trail from an all-white jury or a white police officer charged with police brutality can receive a fair trial from an all-black jury. However, while there are exceptions to the rules for some cases, for the most part statics have shown that racial bias and unequal treatment under the law is prominent in today’s society. Institutional racism is imbedded in the foundation of our criminal justice system. Institutional racism can be defined as a collective failure of an organization to provide an appropriate and professional service to people because of their color, culture or ethnic origin.…

African Americans have faced great difficulties in owning and having a voice and respect in the early years in the United States of America. For far too long, they have faced oppression by the whites. However, they no longer accepted the mistreatment and double standards they faced and took a stand and fought for they believed in. Even though African Americans did not have much rights as families, the fact that they stood up for themselves, to bring peace, honor, and freedom was enough so that they can start a new life and many new opportunities to start a whole new way of living.…

Racial and ethnic discrimination is something that makes me mad. Racial & ethics discrimination occurs daily and obstructs the progress of millions of people worldwide. Racism and intolerance destroy lives and communities. This big issue deprives people of the fundamental principles of equality and non-discrimination. The fight against discrimination is a priority problem. It is necessary to identify this problem that has generated an unequal treatment of a person or group of persons. A couple years ago I went to the movies with a group of friends and we saw a very tense situation between a security man and another woman. The woman was a person from the amazon (Peru). A person should not be judged due to their appearance. Today skin color makes you a suspect in America. It makes you more likely to be stopped, more likely to be searched, and more likely to be arrested and imprisoned. When police officers stop or charge a person based on their race; that’s racial profiling. Racial profiling has been occurring around the nation for years. Statistics show that if a Caucasian man and an African American man are both driving a nice car and speeding at the same time; the police officer is most likely to stop the African-American man. Not only is racial profiling wrong, but is disrespectful to minorities, and should be illegal throughout America. Racial profiling should be illegal because it causes discomfort and humiliation to many minority citizens, lack of unity in the American people, and the possibility of real criminals getting away because he is not a minority thus becoming a threat to society.…

It was the second day of second grade. I was on the school bus sitting next to my best friend when the bus suddenly halted, making a loud SCREECH. I looked out the window to see the reason why. There was a metro bus, green, long, and making me late to school. As I was staring at the bus and the line of people that seemed to stretch out for miles, one person, in particular, caught my eye. It was a woman she looked young, probably 19, but she looked foreign. Foreign to the average American, but not me. She reminded me of my aunt. She was wearing a lavish dark cloth carefully stitched with elegant embroidery that covered her whole body. I didn’t continue to think much of it as I began to play patty cake with my friend, but a few moments passed…
