Antigone: A Rose amongst Thorns
Idina Menzel sings “Let It Go” for ‘Frozen’ character Elsa. Elsa is a feminist in her own right, singing “It’s time to see what I can do. To test the limits and break through”. (#admirable) Elsa is declaring that no one can hold her back anymore.
Despite our sweeping achievements, inequality today seems to be a no-win obstacle. It is a struggle but in reality, women all over the world are fighting for equal rights. We are fighting for equality and identity on an economic, political, and social grounds.

Women do run on emotions yes, as do men but women are wiser and more cunning.Women can and will literally bring men to their fucking knees. That's all the more reason for wanting Antigone dead. Kreon wouldn't have put a man to death for defying him. No, only because it was Antigone, a woman. Maybe they should have let women be war strategists in ancient Greece then they wouldn't have had to go through all this drama to get into Thebes.Remember the slave woman Morgiana from Alibaba and the forty thieves who prevented the thieves from taking revenge against Alibaba?(Just thinking out loud.Smart and cunning woman).Also one of the most known arguments against women in the early twentieth century was that allowing women the right to vote would lead to them encouraging the political interests and morals that would counter those of men.(You …show more content…
Why should they be taken seriously? Women we're often told that they were born of Anarchy, simple minded and too emotional to own anything. All they needed to do was birth children and keep house. Men could care less about the women in their lives and their needs. They should not have a say if they think it’s morally wrong or right to do something but Antigone was prepared for a fight because in her heart the familial bond and her beliefs there was so strong that she was willing to defy Kreon and die just so she could bury her brother. ‘…the dead are cold they’ll welcome me…Let me go for I’ll not endure anything so grievous as what robs me of a noble death’. This is what gave Antigone strength to face death. She was not limited to the knowledge of her fate. She knew she would die if caught. But she would also be welcomed by her already deceased family.She set the bar for other Thebans to follow her lead in doing the right thing.Kreon cared more about the state than of family and in the end Kreon was left to see and feel what Antigone herself felt when her loved ones were taken away from
