Antonia Character Analysis

Antonia is admired by the author because of her favorable characters. These characters include her inability to give up, she is a good-spirited lady and she is full of vigor. In these regards, there are several ways in which she is portrayed positively by the narrator.
First, she is willing and ready to take care of her child even after Jim left her. This shows that she does not depend on anybody and it also shows that she is responsible. She knows that the child was due to attempted rape yet her love for the child remains the same. “She loved it from the first as dearly as if she'd had a ring on her finger, and was never ashamed of it. It's a year and eight months old now, and no baby was ever better cared-for. Antonia is a natural-born mother.”
