Despite having doubts he needed to take charge and show that his crazy idea had the potential to work. During the planning process Mendez thought, “ Were we creating an unnecessarily convoluted plan that was going to get somebody killed? Since I was the plan’s architect, I had to be certain. For some reason, despite the plan’s implausibility, it was the only option I felt comfortable using myself (Mendez, 176).” Mendez didn’t just come up with his non-ordinary plan. He backed up his plan by using the utmost confidence that he could muster. While thinking outside the box is often times the most beneficial, one must be sure that what they are doing can work before actually carrying it out. In Mendez’s case, he knew just that. He did have his doubts about the plan, (just as everyone would do if six lives were on the line) however he fought off those doubts and became comfortable in using and sharing his ideas. Mendez was the chief of the CIA Authentication Branch for a reason. He had always possessed distinct qualities of leadership and confidence. He was able to channel these when creating the Studio Six operation. In order for Mendez’s ideas to become reality, he had to show others that thinking outside the box was indeed the way to approach the situation. As a result, he took command and conveyed his unique plan to where everyone else believed in it too. His ability to get everyone on board is what helped the creative operation take place and have such a good end
