Anxiety is a common and natural bodily response to a perceived danger. This response is triggered by a combination of biochemical changes in the body, the person's personal history, memory, and social situation. It is important to know the difference between anxiety as a feeling or experience and an anxiety disorder as a psychiatric diagnosis. A person with fear or worry may not have an anxiety disorder and a person facing a present danger or fear is not usually considered to be in a state of anxiety. Anxiety is a common symptom of other psychiatric disturbances or condition. Anxiety is related to fear, but these two are not of the same kind. Fear is a direct and focused response to a specific event or object of which the person is aware of since they will become genuine afraid of the event or object while anxiety …show more content…

The usual minor day-to-day pressures of women can be handled easily when the emotional state is well balanced but women with unbalanced emotional state will more susceptible to anxiety since the anxiety responses are easily triggered. Such stress can include riding in an elevator, being in crowds, going to the doctor, any situation, place, or person may start a woman's emotional charge so these charge issues can evoke the feeling of fear, anxiety of upset feeling. A significant lifestyle change can also evoke this feeling like death of a loved one, divorce, job loss, financial problems and other major changes in personal relationship. This situation can sometimes be hard to handle especially when a woman is already tense and anxious. Women who are unable to cope with these kinds of situations can lead to damage in self-esteem and self-confidence.     The DSM-IV-TR has two general categories for a person’s response to stress; they are adjustment disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Many factors influence a person’s response to stressful situations. Several relatively common stressors; prolonged unemployment, loss of a loved one through death, and marital separation/divorce, may produce a great deal of stress and psychological maladjustment, resulting in adjustment disorder ( Butcher, Minkea & Hooley, 2010).
