    House That Built Me

While it's possible to look at this as a VERSE / CHORUS / VERSE / CHORUS / BRIDGE / CHORUS form, it doesn't sound like that to my ear. What might be called the chorus ("I thought if I could touch this place...") feels like a continuation of the verse. Although the melody jumps up to a higher note range, as many choruses do, it doesn't really release the emotions. Instead it seems to create an emotional peak of greater urgency that gradually works its way back down to a long slow release in the final lines ("Won't take nothing but a memory / from the house that built me.") In fact, it reminds me of Kenny Chesney's hit "Better as a Memory." The song form is VERSE / VERSE / BRIDGE /VERSE (Shortcut #24). A big #1 chartbuster in this song form can only happen in the Country market. I'm glad they're still around!…

The thought of creating something out of nothing seems very complicated because nothing is not usually actually nothing. The absence of anything, not a thing, is indeed a simple and straightforward concept when thought of subjectively. Every day, modern human beings continue on throughout their day completing their normal routines. Most of the time they see nothing out of the ordinary, whether it be sitting at home, walking down the street , or engaging in a conversation with a friend. Even though these actions seem uneventful, they relatable as every human being goes through such experiences. This meaningless experience can be given value by the memories created and the worth that is built upon the moments that are shared with other individuals.…

You know, the birds always land on you to rest. They sit, content, all day, under the shade of your branches. Water droplets from your dewy leaves, fall on their wonderful, white, wings. You can hear them singing. Singing songs all day. It is only when dusk comes, and the sky becomes a deep blue with flickers of orange and pink, that they fly away. Together. But you know they’ll come back tomorrow. In fact, they’ll be back every day. So you don’t have to worry. Oh, how I wish to be a bird. But how I wish to be many things other than me.…
