A training needs assessment is a crucial tool in gathering data to determine what training is required in order to reach company objectives (Brown, 2002). The purpose of the needs assessment is to identify what training is needed in order to properly perform the job and tasks for the position, while also eliminating training that is unnecessary or ineffective. This will include all training needed for all tasks, as well as information regarding the company’s core values and practices. This training outcome identifies the need for the employee to be able to handle food properly and keep a sanitary work environment. As a food establishment, it is imperative for all food safety regulations be followed closely or face fines and risk health department closures for violations. Food safety and the cleanliness of the establishment reflect on the organization as a whole and if not followed can mean the end of a business. This will include learning objectives such as practicing proper hand washing and explaining when it is necessary, learning how to handle food in order to avoid cross-contamination, how to properly sanitize equipment and surfaces, as well as how to store food properly (Food Handler Classes, 2018).
Training outcome two, regarding Anytime Coffee’s service practices, results in employees knowing how to serve customers according to company standards and practices. The learning objectives will include how to appropriately greet a customer, the maximum time allowed before a customer should be greeted, the order in which food and beverage orders are taken and delivered, as well as how to resolve standard customer service issues such as bringing the wrong order or having an extended wait time.
Training outcome three, regarding menu knowledge, enables employees to be effective servers and mitigate avoidable medical emergencies. The learning objectives will include memorizing all menu items by name, being able to list all major ingredients in every dish and list all allergens in all food items served.
Performance
