Throughout my speech I used many rhetorical devices and figures of speech. These devices include imagery, simile, parallelism, polysyndeton, tone, emotional appeal, logos and rhetorical questions. Thess devices gave me the ability to convey how I felt about teens practicing sexual abstinence. I used a rhetorical question to introduce my speech. "Whats your favorite sex position?", was my introduction because I wanted to hook onto my audience. Another question used was "who would ever know....eagles wing?" This was also used as a simile. This was to tell my audience how fast STD's can spread. This would persuade them to practice abstinence. Logos was also used in my speech to let my audience know the percentage of teens who have harsh effects from sexual activity results. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 42% of teens are harshly affected by the results of sex. Polysyndeton was utilized in my speech also. "But you really dont realize....finding out." The use of the conjunction "or" shows that this sentence uses polysyndeton. I used imagery to show to my audience how sex can cause a big effect on someone's life and how not to take casual sex risks. Polysyndeton was also used here. TV's and radios and..... This sentence told my audience how the society has a big impact on our teens today. The tone of my speech was very passionate, but also angry. I am angered at the fact that teens make the wrong decisions about sexual activities and they end up with bad results
