I suspect the similarities are easier to find by reading the play because the movie really shows their contrasts. There is one similarity in that when they really believe something, they are passionate about their cause.…
some similarities are that they both traveled through Yellowstone alone in the winter. Tom Murphy went exploring alone in Yellowstone in the winter. John Colter traveled Yellowstone by himself but much earlier, also in the winter. The two had to endear freezing weather with snow everywhere. They had to bring materials to stay warm and survive like warm clothes. Food was critical and Tom brought plenty while John probably brought some food but would have to hunt to get his food eventually. they both had some…
The first major similarity is the series of events that led up to the ordeal. In the book, it starts off with a meeting of the President and most of the cabinet. It is almost the same in the movie. However, the movie starts off with the U-2 plane actually taking the pictures, which is not in the book. After the U-2 flight, the movie then joined the book, where the President and the cabinet met together for the briefing. After the meeting, everyone realized that the Soviet Union was lying about the whole situation. They were in fact transporting nuclear missiles to Cuba when they promised that they were not. Another similarity that ties into the events that led to the ordeal was the meeting between John F. Kennedy and Andrei Gromyko. They talked about the same subject, the Soviets helping the Cubans. Then, President Kennedy read out a statement that pointed out several serious consequences that would arise if the Soviet Union placed missiles in Cuba. Then, Gromyko lied right to his face, and assured him that the Soviet Union would never give missiles to Cuba.…
During the Apollo 13 mission, the crew was faced with odds that were not in their favor. They were faced with many uncertainties that would possibly be fatal if they went wrong. It all started when a crew member stirred the o2 tanks, and the tanks burst. With this predicament, they could not possibly land on the moon. Mission Control or "Houston" had to come up with a flawless plan to get the U.S spacemen back to the Earth.…
The first similarity was that in both their were taverns. They had forests and that's how they make the taverns, farms, and homes. Also, speaking of homes the other similarities are their prisons.…
The actual launch of the Apollo 13 was on April 11, 1970. Two days into the mission it looked like the smoothest flight that the Apollo program had ever seen. "The spacecraft is in real good shape as far as we are concerned. We're bored to tears down here." said Joe Kerwin of mission control (3). At 55 hours the crew held a TV broadcast for 49 minutes where they showed off their living conditions and how they worked in weightless situations. Nine minutes after the broadcast mission control instructed that Odyssey to give their oxygen tanks a stir and moments later oxygen tank No.2 in the service module exploded, due to an exposed fan wire. The eruption then damaged oxygen tank No.1, causing them to start to lose oxygen rapidly. The cover of…

Although they both had pretty big differences, they were also quite alike. It was very hard to remember details from the war they were in because both had many drugs in their system which they were given to overcome…
These two stories have a couple of things in common. First, both authors focus their stories around the possible dangers of technology, and their destruction causes similar outcomes. Also, both are set in a time passed or near 2026. Lastly,…

Both characters participated by hiding Jewish people from the Nazis.…
There are actually a lot of similarities in the movie and the book but most are very small and not easily noticed. What you have to understand when looking at a movie or reading a book based on the same story is that it is basically impossible to have everything due to the facts that they are portrayed by two…
Samantha McPherson R.Bishop English 1312 Comp II Online 6 Oct. 2011 Miss Brill & Miss Emily Emily Grierson from “A Rose for Emily” and Miss Brill from the story “Miss Brill” are two women that are trying to relive their past in the present time. The film, Apollo 13, is based on the real-life crisis that occurred April 13, 1970 on board the Apollo spacecraft. The two main characters, Gene Kranz (Ed Harris) and Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks) are the key players who will address how a leader is able to survive and thrive in a world in which unexpected events occur on a regular basis. They portray the effective styles of leadership in balance with their ever changing surroundings, as well as their ability to maintain their interpersonal relationships with a group under unfavorable conditions. This film is a powerful movie because it makes clear to the viewer just how often disruptions and discontinuities occur. Also, it is an excellent example of how leaders must be able to meet the challenges posed by unexpected, chance events. The characters Jim Lovell and Gene Kranz are the leaders who are able to meet those challenges.…
Over the course of the book the similarity that stood out the most to me between them was their desire to be successful and achieve happiness and knowledge.…
There are two main similarities between the two novels. The first of these similar themes is that the books are both set in war time. The second similarity is that the protagonists in both of the stories are all children. They therefore have no adults for support, guidance or supervision.…
