Ra’s children, Shu and Tefnut wandered off one day and got lost. To find them, Ra plucked out his eye and sent it to go find his children. The eye found Shu and Tefnut and brought them back to Ra. While the eye was gone, Ra grew a new eye. The old eye saw this as betrayal and became enraged. To pacify the eye, Ra changed it to the uraeus which now sits on top of his head. One day, Apollo saw the lovely nymph Daphne. As soon as he saw her, he fell in love and chased after her along a river in the deep woods. This deeply frightened Daphne and caused her to flee. She was so very close to being caught by Apollo until she saw her father’s river.
