To: Beth Leslie, Chief Executive Officer, Apple, Inc.
From: Adam Conley, Research and Development Vice-President, Apple, Inc.
Subject: Not Recommending Expansion of Apple, Inc. to Lakeland, FL

Attached is my recommendation report “Possible Expansion of Apple, Inc. to Lakeland, FL,” which you requested for December 7, 2017. The report provides evidence of my recommendation not to expand Apple, Inc. to 6405 S Florida Ave, Lakeland, FL 33813. This is based on three criteria, is there enough parking to support customers, is it cost effective, and is the building more than 40 minutes from the nearest store? Based on these criteria, Apple, Inc. will not be recommended to expand to this site in Lakeland, FL. This report was possible because

should expand their stores to 6405 S Florida Ave, Lakeland, FL 33813.
Scope
See Appendix A for further information on the criteria below. Apple, Inc. is looking to expand their stores to more cities for easier access for customers to their products and services. The investigation of the potential site in Lakeland, FL stated above has been evaluated based on three criteria, listed in level of importance:
• Is the building more than 40 minutes from the nearest store?
• Is it cost effective?
• Is there enough parking to support customers?
Procedure

First, I chose three criteria to judge the potential site by at 6405 S Florida Ave, Lakeland, FL 33813. The three criteria are directly above in the Scope, and they can also be found in Appendix A. These criteria are the most relevant to expanding or not expanding our store to this site. Second, I searched trustworthy journals and articles for reliable information. Lastly, based on all of the information I gathered, I made a final decision to not recommend the expansion of Apple, Inc. to this site.
Problem
In the past year, Apple, Inc. has been experiencing a high volume of complaints about the travel to our stores. These complaints have exclaimed that Apple, Inc. stores are only available in major cities. Customers are complaining of the long travel, inconvenience, and scarcity of the Apple stores in America. Many complaints have stated that the travel to Apple stores are too long, the wait once the customer arrives is too long, and the price is extremely high to repair the product once it is finally their turn. Our Research and Development department has taken note of the complaints forwarded to us from the Human Resource department. I, as the Vice-President of R&D, has decided to do the research necessary in order to solve this problem. The obvious solution to this problem would be to expand our stores to cities that we have not been established in as of yet. The first site I investigated to establish our store was located in Lakeland, FL. This site was a possible location for our expansion

Thanks to Apple’s deep understanding of consumer behavior, the Apple brand engenders an intense loyalty in the hearts of core Apple customers. Ask loyal Apple fans why they buy the products and they might tell you simply that Apple’s products work better and do more or are simpler to use. But the truth is, Apple buyer behavior is a part of the buyer’s own self-expression and lifestyle—a part of who each person is. Apple users are characterized as independent thinkers, innovators, and ahead of the crowd. Apple’s obsession with understanding customers and deepening the user experience has led to products that are imaginative, irreverent, pleasing to the eye, and fun to use. The same goes for its stores, which are clean, simple, and oozing with style. Apple stores are not just places to shop, they are gathering places that encourage lingering. Apple’s tech support is second to none and the brand leads the industry in customer satisfaction. The consumer love affair with Apple is as good for the company as it is for its users. All this has produced amazing sales and profit figures. Over the past five years, during terrible economic conditions, Apple’s sales have tripled, profits have increased fourfold, and the company’s market capitalization has gone up 34-fold.…
