Apple is a firm who has market power therefore it will influence the market price of the product and will behave in a different way than a firm who has perfect competition.
Elasticity
The calculated elasticity through the incorporation of marginal revenue and price concludes that the 16 gig isPad has an elasticity of demand of -2.09, the 32 has -1.93 and the 964 has -1.99 ("What Is An Apple ipad 's Elasticity of Demand?", 2012). These three products have a very close elasticity. The item 's demand is considered relatively elastic. This data depicts that if the prices change from current levels, the percentage change in quantity demanded would exceed the percentage change in price.
Non-Pricing Strategies isPad non-pricing strategies of advertising and branding. Commercials will be launched using famous couples, families and students exchanging data to encompass all market areas. Consumers expect quality products, next level technology and the stigma of owning an Apple product. This approach will allow us to maintain our current market status and enter or create new markets.
Fixed and Variable Cost
This product will be produced in China in warehouses where the labor is cheaper, and Apple owns the warehouses to control fixed and most variable cost. The variable cost component that is being explored is shipping cost and if there is a change in that industry there could be a change in the overall projected variable cost. If there is a major effect Apple has the option of manufacturing product in both the states and China to reduce shipping cost by producing and shipping in perspective regions.
Economic Conditions, Macroeconomic Indicators and Business Cycle The economies conditions can quickly change over time in line with the economic and business cycle. Currently the economy is going through an expansion. Therefore, the economic conditions are considered to be sound and increasing economic output. We conducted a survey to help in facilitating business decisions and to identify economic indicators that companies follow. The top two economic indicators are unemployment and inflation which are focal points, but other indicators that are in our radar are consumer confidence and spending and Purchasing Managers ' Index. Consumer confidence and spending has been a proven indicator that effects our goods therefore, we are prepared to utilize non-pricing strategy to manage this. As a company operating in a modern economy, there are uncertainties with the business cycle because each of the components each reflects different levels of the economic activity and circumstances occurring during each stage. As a business, we are stargazing to use the business cycle effectively to position our investment portfolio. For example as the economy is in an expansion phase, cyclical stocks in the technology sector tend to outperform, because we are aware of this trend this is our season to launch this product ("Investopedia", 2014). Retail sales and number of employed people economic indicator will be monitored to prepare for the peak with expectations of economy 's GDP to be high during expansion and peak. This reflects the economy is operating efficiently. Contraction stage is opposite of the expansion phase if this develops we are prepared to produce fewer good and reduce employment. Trough is the final month of its contraction phase and is recognized normally after it 's over. As a mature company that has been in this industry for many years operating at a profit level the resources are available to address the business cycles as they occur.

When it comes to Apple iPhones the elasticity or inelasticity of the price per unit does not change until a “new and better” product comes on the market. When the iPhone 5S was released to the market the demand far outweighed the supply on hand yet, the price did not change. Colander (2010) stated, “Formally, demand or supply is elastic when the percentage change in quantity is greater than the percentage change in price. Conversely, demand or supply is inelastic if the percentage change in quantity is less than the percentage change in price.” (p. 135).…

Elasticity of demand is a measure of responsiveness to a price change of a good or service. When demand is elastic, the percentage of a price change of a product will result in a larger percentage of quantity demanded (McConnell, p 77). It basically means reducing the price of a good service will result in a greater quantity demanded and an increase in revenue for the seller. When demand is inelastic, a change in price will result in a reduction of quantity demanded, which will then lead to a revenue decrease (McConnell, p 77). To demonstrate elastic and inelastic demand results, Company A sells 100 pens at $1.00 a piece each day, making their revenue $100.00. Company A then decides to sell their pens at $.50, which results in a total of 250 pens being sold. The total revenue from the price drop is $125, resulting in an additional $25.00; therefore the demand in this scenario is elastic. If selling the pens at the decreased price of $.50 would result in more pens being sold, but less total revenue, the demand is said to inelastic. According to McConnell, when demand in unit elastic, the percentage change in price and the resulting percentage changes in demand are the same. The change in price will not increase or decrease revenue.…

According to the law of demand, there is an inverse relationship between the quantity demanded of a particular good and its price. The degree to which this change in price affects the quantity demanded of the good in a given period is measured by the price elasticity of demand. It is calculated between two points on a given demand curve by dividing the percentage change in quantity demanded by the percentage change in price. This value is always negative but the absolute value is used. When the result from the elasticity calculation is greater than 1, the demand is elastic. If it is less than 1, the demand is inelastic. If it is equal to 1, the demand is unitary.…

1. The demand for Wii console will be relative elastic. As from the passage, it mention that “Nintendo announced its first price drops for the console. In Japan, the price dropped from ¥25,000 to ¥20,000 and they sold more than three million Wii consoles also ending 9 months of declining sales”. This shows that that demand for Wii console is elastic as people responded to the price drop and thus they demanded more which also help Wii console to earn back their losses. Also another reason that demand is relatively elastic is that substitution is possible. Substitute such as Microsoft and Sony also produce console, so people will still compare them with Wii console because some is sensitive to the prices, thus some will still buy from Microsoft or Sony because it is cheaper and some of the function is same as Wii, thus demand is relative elastic.…
