Malcolm X once said, “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”. That is why I, Renelle Walters, desire to attend Archbishop MacDonald High School. I have always been drawn to challenging myself and pushing my limits, which is why getting my High School Diploma at MAC is the next necessary step on the stairs of my academic journey. In this Self-reflection, I will tell you about myself, my experience serving as a leader in my school, how being a leader shaped who I am today, and why I seek admission to MAC.
I am a Grade Nine EAP student at Sir John Thompson Catholic Junior High School. As a result of being a part of the Enhanced Academic Program, I am now an improved critical thinker and problem solver. I excel in Social Studies and Science. I am also a leader in my community and very good at working with my peers. I prioritize my education and I am a diligent student. I enjoy expressing myself through the arts such as dance and literature. One of my primary traits is my resilience. As team captain, I was not there to dictate the team, but to empower, inspire, and drive the team towards success. Being the volleyball captain genuinely showed me what it truly means to be a leader. True leadership is so much more than having authority. Instead, leadership is about developing people and helping others reach their full potential. It's about breaking down barriers and leading others through the ambiguity of what is about to come. While being the team captain, I attained the values of integrity, courage, and perseverance; the characteristics of a true leader/role model. Emphasizing the last quality I gained,
