1.0 ABSTRACT
The use of modern information and communication technology is considered to be an integral part of modern civil engineering. It is becoming essential for the introduction, implementation and integration of advance computer aided engineering techniques and method in the processes of civil engineering and construction domain. Today due to the introduction of new procurement system in civil engineering industry responding to new changes in the global economy, Modern ICT technology has attracted extraordinary importance.
(ICT) information communication technology, as it name implies has being applied to so many aspect of civil engineering, without ICT I wonder what the world would have being like today, so I can say that ICT has a great impact In the lives of civil engineers and even in the entire civil engineering field. There are so many areas in life where ICT can be applied to civil engineering, areas like
 the construction of the dams and power stations that provide the electricity we use every day
 The water and sewage treatment plants that provide us with safe water supplies.
 The paths and roads we travel.
 In fact most structures, large and

Civil Engineers have to know how to design and assemble shapes to construct buildings, dams, bridges, tunnels, highway systems. Civil Engineer must understand and know how to compute such quantities as lengths, areas, volumes, centroids, moments of inertia, and curvatures of a building. Civil Engineers also help build my most favorite place in the world, they help with the designing of soccer fields. The whole field is 120 by 75 yards, the midfield has to be right in the middle of the field, they also have to measure the size of the keeper box which is 6 yards by 20 yards and the penalty box is 18 yards by 40 yards, they also have to help construct the goals that is the length of 8 yards, and last the corners of the field have to be exactly 90 degrees with a quarter circle on the inside of the field so we know where to take the corner kick…

Power, something everyone wants in one form or another. It is known that electricity is crucial for the current way of life to progress and move forward on the path that is currently laid out. One of these means to producing power for society is hydroelectric dams. However, while many individuals can say it is clean power, the real question is it the right power? Not to just think about the cost, resources, land change, population followings the question should follow more to the actual impact to benefits. Most businesses require electricity to turn on the lights and billboard signs to draw in customers for their personal capitol power, cash. Yet, businesses require resources that many rivers bring to any given area. The Amazon is a river that brings much resources to an entire country that supplies the world. China has the Three Georges Dam on their major river. The third major dam is of the DR Congo with easily estimated cost $80 billion.…

Back in the day before there were computers the whole construction process was done by pen and paper from the bidding process to the actual drawings themselves. Since the innovation of the computer and interactive software these processes have gotten much more efficient. There have been many programs that ease the construction process. Such programs include, drawing software (AutoCad), spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel), programs to assist with estimating (Plan Swift), planning and scheduling software (Microsoft Project), the internet as well as e-mail. There have always been minor updates on these programs but have mostly remained with the same basic purpose. Within the last 5 years a new state of the art program developed by AutoDesk using 3D Modeling has been integrated into many large jobs in Canada while in the USA it has been used regularly for about 10 years. This program is called Building Information Modeling and for short, BIM. There are many companies that do not know about BIM or have heard of it but have never used it or seen it being used.…

Technology is not used just in engineering but used in healthcare work and many other areas. We’ve used technology as a benefit to increase our knowledge and as a helping tool. For example, young students today take the ACT for future purposes. In the math portion of the ACT students are allowed to use a calculator, which many take advantage of. In the earlier years, when the ACT first appeared, many did not use calculators except their prior knowledge. The calculator was used less than they are now. This is very interesting because the digital revolution is replacing “traditional” things. Another example is a library. Libraries are no longer a place where someone can find information, especially when someone has technology all around them. People of the Stone Age did not have the luxury of turning on the television, but advances in tool making technology led prehistoric humans towards modernity (Holt). In World War II, draft boards kept engineers and scientists on the homefront to work on machines instead of sending them off, where they were most likely to die (Coopersmith). Technology is not just a positive advance, but also a fun learning tool for…

Throughout the last few years, technology has been improving the lives of people from all walks of life and all fields of study. One of the big pieces of technology in the civil engineering field today is computer aided drafting. AutoCAD is a computer aided design software for the 2D and 3D design of certain objects or places. Computer aided drafting is widely used in the civil engineering field because of its ability to plan sites a lot easier then hand drawings, it can help design a lot of engineering supplies, and is constantly upgrading. Up until a few years ago, civil engineers would hand draw their design plans which could take a while. Computer aided drafting makes this process faster and easier. It can also lay out sites, roads, sidewalks, bridges and other engineering items. There are constant upgrades to computer aided drafting being made every year to improve the system and help civil engineers.…

ICT defined as information and communication technology (ICT) the hardware and software that enables data to be digitally processed, stored and communicated. ICT can be used to access, process, manage, and present information model and control events, construct new construct new understanding and communicate with other. In the context of learning process, ICT may be referred as a necessary tool for any student who desires further learning shortly after the internet explosion of the 1990s. ICT was immediately integrated into educational field. Even though symbolized advancement in human knowledge was seen as a setback by many educator and instructors at the university. There are many advantages of using ICT as a tool for teaching and learning. The advantages such as ICT can be used at anytime, anywhere, access to remote learning resources and it help to prepare individual for the work place.…
