Medical is one of the many pioneers in the medical field who provides new and break-through technology to enhance surgical procedures, and it is my goal to be able to intern there. My first hands-on medical experience started in June of 2016, when I was offered a paid internship at North County Orthopedic Medical Group.
In the beginning, I was given simple tasks such as greeting and checking in patients, organizing charts, and filling in prescriptions for patients. As I became more experienced, I was given harder tasks, like making important phone calls to insurance companies or law offices and setting up injections. Most of the time, the phone calls require me to interpret meanings of legal or medical documents and update our systems. Taking phone calls is one of the more challenging aspects of the job as it requires excellent customer service and very fast problem-solving skills under pressure because law offices often demand answers quickly. My job also requires me to help and answer any questions that new employees or interns have about their job around the office. Another job for more experienced interns is setting up injections for patients that are scheduled for their shot. I bring out the specific medicine needed for a type of injection while the doctor is the one who administers the
injection. The departments of Applied Medical that I am particularly interested in are customer relations and global education/training. In the whole process of designing new technologies, I feel the most passionate towards establishing and maintaining good relations with the doctor, hospital, and surgery center patients. Because of my experience with working in a clinic setting, I have the ability to work well with patients and others in a highly professional manner and to solve practical problems while dealing with many variables. Also, because of my role as Vice President of Team HBV, I organize and oversee the community outreach events we do and train new member of our organize how to assist the doctors and pharmacists with health screenings. This role takes responsibility for the success of our health screenings and fairs and ensures that all members of the organization are fulfilling the roles assigned to them. I have a solid foundation in overseeing and educating members of a team and would like the opportunity to learn how to take on this role in a professional setting with Applied Medical. Applied Medical combines some of the topics I am most interested in and creates a team that brings forth new and improved medical technologies for the public. The health of our world is crucial and Applied Medical gives great opportunities to the younger generations to spread awareness of the importance of medical technology. Applied Medical would broaden my view of the medical field and allow me to translate what I have learned at university and at work to real life goals. It will also give me a greater appreciation for medicine and more knowledge of what it is like to work in the medical field.
