Archetypes In The Chronicles Of Narnia
An archetype is a pattern of theme, symbol, character, or idea in literature that the author expects the reader to recognize. This recurrence of ideas strengthens the impact it has on the reader. Every fairy tale that I know relates back to this idea. Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, etc. All of them have the pattern of good overcoming evil, love conquering all, and deciding right from wrong. The book “The Chronicles of Narnia” has many of the same patterns that the fairy tails also have. For example in the end good overcomes evil when Aslan and his army defeat the White Witch. Love conquers all when the siblings become kings, queens, princes, and princesses of Narnia and they are loved immensely by the

This fairytale of the Little Mermaid you chose seems very interesting they way you described it. I do see that the Little Mermaid is an archetype for innocent and the Prince is seen as an archetype for hero. This movie does seem to be the archetype for star crossed lovers because they both come more different worlds and have things that stand in there way for a happy ending. Does the movie explain this different place and time where they could be together? Could the sea witch also be an archetype for the villain as well?…

The Hobbit shows both positive and negative character traits. Some of the positive traits were shown by what the dwarves did. They were peaceful and honest . The trolls were seen in a negative light because they tried to kill the dwarves. At this point in the story intelligence would be more important than physical strength because when the trolls made an appearance in the book, they weren't defeated with brute strength.…

The last archetype is irony. Irony is the opposite of what is intended, usually for humorous effect. One thing that was very ironic in this book was when the dragon attacked the town, Bard intended to save the town, but he actually made the town worse. When he killed Smaug, Smaug still ended up falling down and destroying the town. It was very ironic, because what he meant to do was save the town, but he actually did the opposite. Tolkien seemed to have wanted to make light of the situation and give it a more humorous approach by making Bard the archer make the situation even…

One of the many archetypes in The Metamorphosis is the bug that Gregor, the main character, wakes up as. This is an animal archetype that is a negative archetype because, to his surprise, Gregor wakes up as a hideous insect and insects are not looked upon to enjoy or be beneficial. The fact that Gregor was unlucky enough to wake up and have his life so drastically altered without his will is very misfortunate. The "unconscious" is a psychological concept that is interpreted differently by many psychologists. Sigmund Freud interprets the unconscious as a place where thoughts, feelings and memories are kept, and cannot easily be brought into the conscious mind. However, some neo-Freudians, such as Carl Jung, thought differently. Jung believed that there was not only a personal unconscious, which is what Freud describes, but a collective unconscious as well. The collective conscious contains universal human memories, ideas and patterns of thinking called archetypes. Some archetypes include the anima/animus, (which is the feminine side of a man/the masculine side of a female), the "hero" and the "villain", among many others. The characters in the movie, The Lion King display a diverse variety of archetypes through their own character traits.…
