Thesis Statement:
Even though uninformed individuals state that creatine is as unsafe as steroids, creatine should be considered safe because creatine promotes muscle growth, increases brain function, improves bone healing, reduces sarcopaenia and scientific studies have considered creatine safe through years of testing and research. I. Foods Containing Creatine A. Ever since the times of the ancient Greeks, our ancestors have been training their bodies and eating meats naturally containing creatine helping them grow stronger. B. Creatine has been recognized as a food ingredient for over one hundred years as a “nutrient found naturally in various foods” (Williams 2), such as fish, and meat. C. Even though creatine can cause problems in the kidneys, creatine is considered safe for healthy adults. Years of research have proven creatine’s safety. It is also legal, unlike steroids. II. Benefits of Creatine A. Creatine improves overall health: supports muscular gains, reduces body fat, and improves heart function and blood flow while maintaining a healthy immune system. B. Able to increase “mental strength” and “reduce the physiological energy costs to produce a given amount of power” (Williams 2) C. "Creatine can give a significant boost to both working memory and general intelligence” (“Boost”). D. III. Official Approval of Creatine Use A. Creatine has been officially approved for legal use. People can use creatine safely as a legal supplement rather than rely on illegal steroids. B. “Creatine is allowed by the International Olympic Committee, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and professional sports”. (WebMD). C. “IOC recently classified creatine as a food; its use as a supplement to enhance sport performance has not been prohibited by the IOC or other athletic governing organizations”
