show true character. Heroes that are made in a moment of crisis also tend to show true character.
For instance, in the text about Malala, she shows true character by sharing what she's passionate about even though it almost killed her in the past. The text states “Despite the Taliban’s threats, Malala remains a staunch advocate for the power of education.” This evidence supports the fact that heroes of the moment show true character. As well as showing true character, heroes also stay strong even when they are unprepared for chaos. Heroes that are a product of the moment may not plan for chaos but they still stay strong. In the text by Carole Bos Rick Rescorla sacrificed his life saving thousands of others. The text states “Because of Rick Rescorla’s foresight and belief that he knew what was right, nearly every Morgan Stanley employee made it safely out of the South Tower before it collapsed….When the South Tower collapsed, Rick was still in the building. His body was never found”(Bos). Rick giving up his life to save others proves that heroes may not be prepared for chaos but they still become
heroes. Even though I believe heroes are a product of the moment, others believe heroes are shaped. These people say that heroes have specialized training, show leadership, and never give up. People that say these things are wrong because heroes do not necessarily have to be specially trained to be a hero. So, are heroes born heroes or are they merely a product of the moment? Some people believe that heroes are trained to be heroes while others believe that heroes simply come about in a moment of crisis. Knowing that heroes can be an average person performing heroic tasks in a moment of crisis is important because anyone could be considered a hero one day.
