Are We Progressing?
Are we really progressing ?
India unfortunately is lacking leaders. There was a time when we had real heroes those who fought selflessly for our freedom and sacrificed their lives.

Now a days 'leaders' are replaced by diplomats and politicians , who are hardly concerned with the development or progress of our country । They are not at all bothered by the grievances of common man. 40 percent population is living below poverty line but the rich are getting richer. The difference is growing between rich and the poor with a great speed.

They have tall claims that India has developed a lot but the truth is that we have lost our grip on many significant fronts। With this type of ineffective leadership India will lead nowhere.

We Indians copy the Western culture on silly counts like fashion , openness and homosexuality but unfortunately we do not follow the British way of tackling the awful mess . The journalism their is admirable. They do not hesitate or fear in criticizing, exposing or taking names of their politicians. Their efforts are determined and meticulous in contrast to our media where they are reluctant to question or expose their colleagues , as it happened in Radia's case.

Worst part is when our media dares to question the PM , he is either unavailable or protected by his advisers, unlike Cameron who made himself available to face all the criticism in west .

Majority of countries are victim of terrorism but the selfish politicians of India have developed the habit of consoling themselves and fooling the general lot by saying - "Spirit of Mumbai" . Rest of the world have learnt their lessons from terror attack and have improved their law and order except India where our leaders have mastered the art of making tall claims and sympathizing with the victims for a brief period. Mumbaikars are living in fear of bomb attacks for past two decades but our government seems reluctant to take any effective measure.

Government don’t respond well to terrorism because there have been changes in the law, especially the terrorism act 2000, the terrorism Act 2006 and the civil contingencies Act 2004 and there may anymore Act to come but it’s not given any good solution to this problem, the only thing that we gain from this problem is more dead bodies that’s the reason why I said government don’t respond well to terrorism. One of the worst examples is when atrocities committed the Omagh bombing in 1998 which killed 29 people. There are many other examples when people died.…

Scrutiny is carried out in four main ways- Prime Ministers Questions, Select Committees, The Back Benches and The House of Lords. Prime Ministers Questions is a weekly opportunity for backbenchers to scrutinise the Prime Minister. This happens every Wednesday and is an opportunity for the leader of the opposition as well as other MPs to highlight government failings or ask the Prime Minister a question. This is a good way to scrutinise the Prime Minister as it puts them under pressure to justify their actions and normally with potentially no pre-warning of what topics will have to be defended. The element of surprise allows opposition MP’s as well as backbenchers and sometimes members of the cabinet to catch the prime minister out with an awkward question. The relative performance of each of the main party leaders is closely watched and each is under great pressure to get the better of their opponent. The main weakness of this form of scrutiny is that it is often accused of being more like ‘Gardeners’ Question Time’ as many believe the questions are “planted” and therefore the Prime Minister and Opposition can prepare their answers beforehand.…

In a country that claims democracy, Indians seem to be confused on the definition of the government style. You can not blame the people however, because it is the duty of the people to have faith in their country to do the right thing. Indira Gandhi manipulated the people of India by legitimizing the repression by calling for order in a chaos that she created. Indira Gandhi has made catastrophic changes to India’s political, social, and religious views that still have negative repercussions today because of the authoritarian precedent that she set for India’s political system.…

While India has a strong and active civil society, the media is still driven by the educated middle to upper classes. Those who are most vulnerable in society are also the least likely to report on their experiences. Slum dwellers, those from rural communities particularly women and girls, those with disabilities, and those from marginalised castes within Indian society are overlooked as sources, contributors and reporters. There is a perception that the media is not taking up the causes of the underprivileged and oppressed or rural masses and there is hardly any coverage of farmer suicides or of atrocities on Dalits across the length and breadth of the country.…

Terrorism is an inhuman act which is against the law of any land or government of states. The world had witnessed acts of terrorism in the US, UK and more recently in India which have constituted as major events. The World Trade Centre and London bombings have been significant events in the history of mankind but to boost the acts further, the Mumbai terrorist attack was a unique one since it was a direct urban attack and not just bombs planted aimed at causing mayhem in a small amount of time.…

First of all, let us focus on the political environment. India had a very long period of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, and then became the colony of the British for nearly 100 years. In 1947, India was independent, and became a republic country. Due to British influence, India’s political structure is similar to Britain. India has a parliamentary system and a party system. There are more than eight national and two dozen regional parties in India. Among these parties, the Congress Party is the most influential party in the country. It had uninterrupted control of the government for 33 of the 44 years following independence. The Congress Party played a really importance role in India’s economic reform. For example, the aged P.V. Narasimha Rao led the Congress Party from 1991-1996 and was responsible for much of India’s free market reform in the early to mid-1990s. Comparing with other Asian countries, India’s parliamentary system and party system makes the political environment relatively free and open. At the same time, the influence and authority of the Congress Party also makes India’s political environment relatively stable. However there are also lots of issues impacting India’s stable…

If we look at the News we can see that various political, social and cultural factors do impinge on the version of "reality" which the News presents to us. British News may well deal with international affairs, but its main focus is likely to be British in focus, as opposed to the News presented by CNN or the American TV news programmes. Furthermore, the News organisations (BBC, ITN, Sky News etc.), are bound by British legal and political constraints, as regards questions of taste, decency, balance etc. Various events have, in recent years, demonstrated the conflicts of interest which can arise here, as for example occurred in the 1980s with the Falklands War, the Miners Strike, or more recent coverage of the Gulf War and Northern Ireland. Because of the nature of the patterns of ownership, and mechanisms of control and moderation which govern British news broadcasting, the balance and fairness of British news broadcasting has come under question in recent years. The work of the…

NOW WITH the latest train attack, we the people failed to understand our government policies and strategy, which is unsuccessful in tackling the Naxalism despite so many innocent civilians are being killed without their any fault. Like earlier attacks, this time too political parties in West Bengal tried to corner each other with municipal polls across West Bengal on Sunday (May 30, 2010). Worst is that country Home Minister P Chidambaram is escaping with theory of just sabotage. How many times citizens hear same and old statement from Chidambaram that government is working on the proper solution. Shame! Does not government think the value of human life? Did not our country loss good amount of revenue in these attacks? Can’t we spend same revenue in tackling the Naxalites problem? Is Indian government the helpless creature of planet earth?…
