1. Are the two rectangular prisms similar? If so, give the similarity ratio.
2. The lateral areas of two similar paint cans are 1019 cm2 and 425 cm2. The volume of the small can is 1157 cm3. Find the volume of the large can.
3. The volumes of two similar solids are 128 m3 and 250 m3.The surface area of the larger solid is 250 m2.
What is the surface area of the smaller solid?
4. Triangular Prism X and triangular Prism Y are similar. The ratio of corresponding dimensions of Prism
X to Prism Y is 3:4. Use this information for problem a–d.
a. If the length of a side of Prism X is 9 feet, what is the length of the corresponding side of Prism
Y?
b. If Prism X has a surface area of 88.8 feet2, what is the surface area of Prism Y?
c. If the volume of Prism X is 35.1 feet3, what is the volume of Prism Y?

5. There are 750 toothpicks in a regular-sized box. If a jumbo box is made by doubling all the dimensions of the regular-sized box, how many toothpicks will the jumbo box hold?
6. A cylinder 4 in. in diameter and 6 in. high holds 1 lb of oatmeal. To the nearest ounce, how much oatmeal will a similar 10-in.-high cylinder hold?
7. A regular pentagonal solid prism has 9-cm base edges. A larger, similar solid prism of the same material has 36-cm base edges. How does each indicated measurement for the larger prism compare to the same measurement for the smaller prism?
