Who would ever in their right mind want a cat as a pet? Cats are the most conniving animals alive and no one should even think to keep them as a pet. There are some people who have a large number of cats in their house at one time and continue adding to the number and that is just ridiculous. Cats can carry around a foul smell or odor and shed their hair which gets everywhere it should not be. There is also a lot of money that can be involved with investing in supplies, health and food for a cat. If anyone has a cat for a pet they should be ready to take full responsibility of the cat and all of the downfalls

There should be a limit of how many cats a person can have in their home. "It is impossible to determine how many stray dogs and cats live in the United States; estimates for cats alone range up to 70 million" (ASPCA, 2012). If anyone owns a cat then it should be mandatory that the cat should be spayed and neutered with random inspections. Pets can be very expensive and America is currently in a recession for the people who are unaware. "The average cost of basic food, supplies, medical care and training for a dog or cat is $600 to $900 annually" (ASCPA, 2012). If people do not have enough money to eat a decent meal and have ten cats at home then it is simple math. Get rid of the cat! Although some may see cats as cute and cuddly just remember that they are very sneaky animals and cannot be trusted. Burning a hole into your pocket for an animal that cannot be trusted is a complete waste of money and resources. "About 78.2 million dogs and about 86.4 million cats are owned in the United States" (ASCPA, 2012). This means that there are some animals that do not need to be around. There are too many animals that are living on the streets and taking up space. Many Americans are living on the streets and unable to find food, clothes to wear or shelter and we are worried about

Why? Because Americans love to pamper their pets and are willing to do anything for them as if they were their own children. In the article “The Last Meow by Burkhard Bilger” his data shows the unnecessary amount of spending on pets. Example one “we’re looking at spending a thousand dollars in the next twenty four hours and between three and four thousand in the next week” That is a lot of money for Shawn Levering and his wife Karen who both live in poverty, these are the owners of Lady the cat that needs these expensive…

Animal shelters nationwide euthanize more than four million dogs and cats annually. Many people believe cats and dogs in animal shelters are street animals or something is wrong with them. The fact is most dogs and cats in shelters are the offspring of cherished family pets, even purebreds. Whether a litter is intentional or unintentional, the efforts to find good homes often fail. Spaying and neutering cats and dogs have many health, behavior, and mess benefits. Overcrowded animal shelters, affect us all. Millions of tax dollars are spent to round up lost, abandoned, and unwanted pets. A large percentage of that money is spent to euthanize these pets when homes cannot be found. The solution is to spay and neuter pets at an early age; this not only reduces overcrowding and euthanizing in shelters, but reduces the chances dogs and cats will develop health issues, behavior problems, and messes created by pets going into heat or marking their territory.…

Spending excessive amounts of money on our pets morally wrong. “Were looking at spending a thousand dollars for the next 24 hours and between 3 and 4 thousand in the next week…The total cost would be $15,000 dollars”( Burkhard, Part 1, Paragraph 5). The total cost of the procedure is more than 50 percent of the average American salary. That 15 thousand dollars could be used to buy the necessities for a small family, spending this much on a pet is just irresponsible considering the average life span of a dog is about 10-13 years and the time it would take to pay back this debt would more than likely outlive the pet.…

During a crisis of pet overpopulation, it right to kill animals simply because they are not wanted? Or is it ever right thing to do? The United States is faced with the problem of what should be done with the excess of stray animals. This is a complex thing to solve, but that doesn’t mean killing the animals for space is right. Stray dogs and cats have just as much right to a good home as pets that already have owners. No-Kill shelters are beneficial, they provide a safe, pet-friendly environment that would help solve the problems of pet homelessness and overpopulations, as a result of spay and neuter being provided as well.…

Most people doing this are blind to the fact that it is hurting their cat and taking away something essential to their safety and living a comfortable and happy life. The main reason people declaw cats is because they scratch their furniture, walls, and any other household object. There are many very easy solutions to this. 1: Train your cat to not scratch things or hire someone to train your cat. 2: Buy your cat a scratching post. 3: Don’t buy a cat if your worried it will scratch your furniture. And once again in the end cat’s are born with claws and as humans we have NO right to take them…

    Why Cats Are Bad Pets

In ancient Egypt, they held cats up high for poise and grace; they even had a goddess cat, named Bast (Bastet). When Egyptians lost their cat, they would mourn as if they lost a family member. To kill a cat, even accidentally, was an automatic death sentence. Cats were believed to be guardians of the gates of hell, and to prevent demons, ghouls, and spirits from escaping, and prevent them from entering homes of humans. So why people find this animal cute, adorable, and friendly is beyond me. Who would want a pet that was held up to be a god? That people have killed over and treated like a human? That is associated with hell and all its demons? Animals aren’t human, so these cats should be treated exactly like pets. Not equals, not “man’s best friend”, but an animal. You can’t take them everywhere with you like you can a dog, and if you leave them home, they may pee everywhere, claw up the couch, get into everything they shouldn’t, and make a ridiculous mess.…

I have been thinking lately about how I wanted my own dog for over 3 years now. I have also been thinking about my future and where the dog would end up in 5 years when I go off to university. I've come to a conclusion and found that fostering dogs would be the best option for me. Since most universities don't accept pets, I would have to leave the dog behind or give up the dog completely if I fully owned a dog. With fostering, I don't have to commit to 10 years + with a dog and I still get to do almost everything I want to do, and probably more.…

To start with the similarities between dogs and cats, there are some common problems that may occur if these animals are kept as pets. Both cats and dogs have fur; therefore require regular combing and washing, if you don’t want to deal with fleas in your house. Both cats and dogs shed, so there occur a definite problem with cleaning out their hackles. Both of them were domesticated hundreds of years ago, so they got used to living in captivity. The important issue for the breeder is that both cats and dogs nurse their young without significant help from the human. Both cats and dogs can be trained. And last, but not the least – they bring love and affection to humans and love to sleep with their owners and are believed to ease problems with health. Cats similar to dogs get bored, and therefore they need toys to keep them occupied. If you give them all the possible attention, they will be great animals.…

Animal abuse happens all around the world. Different types of animals are abused and a diverse group of people abuse them. Hurting an animal is not right; some animals cannot even defend themselves from humans. Abuse can happen in urban and rural areas. Some surveys suggest the average person who abuses animals is male and under 30 and the average person who hoards animals is female and over 60. The most reported animals that are abused are dogs, cats, horses, and livestock. The most abused though was dogs and the most common type of dog was a pit-bull (“Animal").The majority of the United States animal abuse comes from animal testing. It is horrific seeing news footage of animals being killed. It is also horrific that some of your tax dollars could fund some experiments that kill animals here in the United States. The Environmental Protection Agency requires by law that if companies want to make a claim on their products it must be tested to ensure it is true. Things like shoving dogs into enclosed rooms where they cannot escape to test pesticides on them and testing fluoride on lab rats where they eventually killed are examples of…
