Argumentative Essay: Christopher Columbus As A Villain

Christopher Columbus should be displayed as a villain in your museum exhibit because, He caused a lot of violence and slavery, his motivation was wealth and power. Then he lied about a lot of things He caused a lot of violence and slavery among the native people. He labeled them as indians and forced violence upon them. Then Columbus took the Native people back to spain and sold them for his own profit. Also had very harsh punishments for the slightest of crimes. His motivation was wealth and power. He didn't give credit to the person who actually saw the caribbean islands because Columbus wanted all the credit. Also Columbus sold slaves to spain for his own profit and didn't give any of it to the people that helped him. He was credited for discovering “America” when in reality he did not, he only found the Islands.
He said he made friends with the native people when in reality he took them as slaves and tortured them. Lie number two is that he wanted to prove the world was not flat but is his time most people in the public believed it was flat but scientist had already disproved this theory before Columbus did. Another lie that most people believe is that Columbus returned to spain in glory but when he came back it was considered a total failure because he found no new trade routes and the most valuable of the three ships, Santa Maria was sunk. So in conclusion Christopher Columbus is a villain because of all three of these reasons. He supported slavery which was not even very common in his era which made it made it even more villainous. Number two he wanted wealth and power which is proven by all the miscredited people and the money he took for himself. Then number three he lied about a ton of things with the the fact that he was not friends with the natives.
